It's been a tough couple of months. UK side of the family all got it but came out OK after a couple of weeks of "really bad flu". My 80 year old mother showed no symptoms other than a raspy cough. She (and I) always had a good response to diseases, my brother and father were always the ones to be laid up in bed for a week while Mum and I got sniffles or mild fever. Good genetics on her side.

In US, my parents in law both tested positive first weekend of February and we feared the worst, especially for MIL with a history of lung issues. But with a vaccine shot the week before and the monoclonal antibody treatment she came through just fine. My (unvaccinated due to reasons) FIL did not seem to have covid symptoms but it was probably the last straw for his much-weakened body, and he passed last Saturday. Maybe he technically didn't die of covid, but it certainly hastened his demise. Probably marked down as a covid death.
We assumed when we started this a year ago that it was just a matter of time before we all got it, so thankful they got another year together. He is, and will always be, sorely missed.

One of my dads / my cousins wife just died last night... She had battled cancer and been ill for years.... So I understand... I had know this lady basically my whole life....

Oh no, @Jaro1069
Our Cadre family is getting hit very hard this past few weeks.
Yes it seems that way. I know she ( our cousins wife ) is better off now though because it had been a struggle for her she had a lot of additional problems recently and was on a trip with her husband when she stopped breathing . they got her revived but at some point she went into cardiac arrest and she wound up on a ventilator and they had to lower her body temp to try to help her and then were bringing her temp up but she had lost the battle....

So sorry for your loss too.

In never rains but it pours news - MIL is now in hospital for the weekend with post covid blood clots.
This disease sucks big time.

Okay over in another thread The Village People were mentioned today and just saw a new song they did .. New inspirational music video by VILLAGE PEOPLE dedicated to the fight against Coronavirus in efforts to lift spirits.
Thought I would share it here...

Got my first shot this past friday. I work for a company that makes electrical components for the military, so we're considered essential supply chain. Easiest medical interaction I've ever encountered. In and out in less than 30 minutes (they make you hang out after the shot for 15 minutes in case of allergic reaction). 21 days until the next shot and then two weeks after that I reach full efficacy. Luckily my wife and I work at the same company so we both got our shots at the same time. Add to that over the weekend the CDC released new guidelines that state that fully immunized people can gather with other fully immunized people with no distancing or masks and it looks like we can start visiting friends and relatives again soon. Its been a long year. There's a light at the end of this tunnel. Thankfully the few people I know that caught this disease were only mildly affected. My heart goes out to all that lost friends or family to this pandemic.

Well, yesterday was out last day of quarantine. The kids are back to normal and the wife just has lingering fatigue and a cough. The doctor said that could take a while for her to get back to 100%. Kind of rough watching her go from training for a 10k to getting winded after walking half a mile. But she is feeling better each day even if it is very little.

A year ago yesterday I started working from home. Have seen my office twice since then. I'm getting used to the basement and slowly shaping my workspace and the rest of the area.

A year ago from the 13th I picked up my lad from college for Spring Break. He hasn't been back yet. I love having him around, it's one of the few silver linings.

It's been a very strange year. Stay safe all.
