5-4-3-2-1 Challenge Videos!

Since I got called out by @Cvargo for something that guy @Dave in KY seems to have started. (or at least as far as I know, I only heard about it from Chad and he mentioned Dave as his instigator. :ROFLMAO:)

Here is my humble 5,4,3,2,1 And yes Chad, I have a small shaving den... What of it? šŸ˜œ

(Let's see if I get this right...)
5 shaving soaps in no particular order.

- @CBLindsay sent me a small tub of a soap with a scent sample he had gotten after I mentioned wanting a good chocolate soap. I immediately fell in love with the scent and he was awesome enough to make some more for me. Then @Spider had some more made for me in the xmas exchange, and in both formulas!
- @LNHC makes another soap that is an excellent performer for me with great post shave feel. Definitely falls into my personal "elite" status.
- Mystic waters was my first "real" shaving soap and what actually caused me to fall head first down this rabbit hole.
- Vintage Williams (and Old Spice, I'm grouping them together for they are both similar in their excellence and difficulty in finding) is something that I really would like to keep around as it is just a great soap.
- Martin De Candre fougere is a bit of a mystery for me. I really don't like lavender and non-tallow soaps don't really work well for me, yet for some reason I really like the smell of this and it performs extremely well. I've tried other "high end" and artisan non-tallow soaps, but they really don't work, yet this one hits all the marks for me.

4 post shave products.

- Captains Choice is ALWAYS going to be in my den. Scott is an excellent person and his aftershaves are great on my skin as well as smelling amazing.
- Clinique hydrator is relatively new to me, but really help to keep my face from being so dry without feeling clogged or greasy.
- The shave tonic feels great and smells great, but the scent dies rather quickly. Since I don't really do much for post shave, I was limited on things to post though, and it does leave my skin feeling good.
I do have to give a mention to the witch hazel KJ mixed up for me though. I've used it a couple times now. I still get some faint weird scent from it that reminds me of the juice pickled eggs are in, but it really does feel good when applied. I think the faint scent is just me picking out what I didn't like about which hazel.

3 brushes.

I have a Simpson, Shavemac, Paladin, and a few others, but these 3 are my tops.
Of course you can't deny the excellent craftsmanship @Smattayu displays with every piece that he makes. (Some day when some lazy wannabe bladesmith gets off his butt, there should be a matching straight to go with it.)
And again, another Sorrentino. This one holds even more value as not only was it masterfully crafted, but it also represents some of the best things that have happened to me. First, the awesome site that is a great place to hang out and shoot the... well... you know... Then add that this brush was gifted to me as I was in a hard spot and wasn't going to be able to get one. Another big thank you to the un-named that were involved. It is a constant reminder of the generosity that still exists in the world, and of the many friends I have made here and wouldn't trade for anything.
Then there is my poor little 400 that has to try and follow that act. šŸ˜œ The boss actually spotted this one in NOS condition. The knot was so stiff you could have driven over it and it wouldn't have bent, so I re-knotted it with a whipped dog boar and it is just an amazing brush.

2 razors.......

The SE/DE thing I could figure out the one that I would keep for my lazy days. That would be my Dandy Shaving DE. Very smooth, very efficient, and fells great in the hand.
Trying to pick a straight though is like asking someone to choose only one kid to keep. But I did limit them to the closest few for the photo.... That counts for something, right????

1 blade

I've tried a far number. Nowhere near as many as Chad has though. I like a few others as well, but if I could only have one I'd have to go with the Nacet blade.

I hope I got everything right. And if we have to call out someone else then I have no idea who has and hasn't been done yet.... I'll say @Blade-meister in case he hasn't.
Some seriously good stuff Shawn!

@uacowboy tagged me. Here it is...kinda. It'll be finished uploading in an hour or so. Turns out that I uploaded it to the wrong account the first time. DOH!

Due to your intrigue, I tag thee @Smattayu! You're up!
May not be able to smoke...but sure as heck goons try to smell like tobacco! :ROFLMAO:

Note to self...visit the Duck household...check chip bags...

Watched @Spiderā€™s video during my shower, shave, driving to the tire shop and still 10min left.

Edit: :: slaps forehead :: I didnā€™t even think of the zombie apocalypse razor!!

So many comments for KJā€™s video. I guess Iā€™ll just say other than enjoying see what his picks were, it was amusing to hear him talk about thinning and being over his acquisition disorders and then talking about ā€œI just got thisā€ ā€œI have 4 back-up razorsā€ ā€œHave three bottlesā€....

When you find something you love, you gotta have backups! And when something you love is cheap or goes on sale, itā€™s a no brainer to acquire a few more. A couple of my favorites have since been discontinued (like Master Jade), and Iā€™m so glad I have a few in reserve. Those are purchases Iā€™ll never regret. As much as we want them to.... our favorite products and our favorite brands will not be around forever.
