Ramblings of a MilkCrate

So I’m looking on the tube of you for a video on tie rods. They always lead with these crappy ads. Well ... this ad came up and I had to share.

I saw this advertisement on the tube of You a few months ago and it cracked me up! If all ads were this entertaining I might actually watch them.

Wife got stung by a Yellow Jacket on Friday. No respiratory issues, but swelling continued unabated. We finally ended up in the ER last night. Thankfully the meds are working now. And the Yellow Jacket is dead.

I used to have an allergy to stinging creatures. I say used to because I haven't had a serious reaction in about 15 years. But still, whenever I get stung by a wasp, hornet, yellow jacket, bee...I immediately take some benadryl. Sorry the wife had to go to the ER, but happy something more serious didn't happen.

I may or my not have hit snooze this morning. Hm ... a new week, what to choose ... what to choose. Let's give Triumph another go this week. So ... new week and a new setup. Grabbed the Zenith and loaded the soap for 30 seconds. As usual, I ran the brush wet and it whipped up a ton of great smelling lather. The Zenith did shed a hair today, which is kinda surprising. I may switch over to the Semogue tomorrow, just to give it more of a break-in.

50 laps on the leather and it was go time. I went with my normal shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Very nice shave and I am BBS for the win! Great stuff right there! Wrapped everything up with a splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! I am digging this scent too, it's going to be a great week.

Home front-
Not much to mention yet, but that will change. Life is good!

Ok, I changed a couple of things today and first up was the razor. Today is Torrey Tuesday ... so there ya go. I also mentioned yesterday that I was going to change out my brush and I did. Went with the Semogue today. Used a very wet brush and my standard 30 second load time to whip up a really nice lather. It started out a bit wet and I was slinging lather a bit ... nice. But I kept at it and it stabilized quickly. The more I use this soap, the more I dig it. My nose doesn't do well at picking out scents, but with each use this scent just unfolds more and more. Stirling did a really nice job with this one.

Hit the leather for my standard 50 laps and I was ready. Went with my normal shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Fantastic shave this morning and I am BBS for the win! This is a razor that I like more and more with each use also. This was a resto razor and is a whole lot cleaner now than when I got it. It could use a bit more cleaning though. Aside from that, I am drawn to the craftsmanship. With the blade lock, the mother of pearl and the spine work, it really is a nice piece.

Wrapped everything up with a double tap of the AS and everything was right as rain! I haven't timed it, but the AS has decent longevity, which is nice. I will be off on Friday, so for me the week is almost half over. This soap/AS combo will certainly make the week without being replaced by some random bits. Good stuff!

Home front-
The missus is on the mend, not 100% yet but getting there. Swelling and redness have subsided, but the itch is still there, where the redness was. We had dinner with the oldest granddaughter last night. It was to celebrate her last first day of high school. That will make you feel old. In spite of that feeling ... Life is good!

Look at you wild man. Changing everything up. You're talkin' like a guy that doesn't hit the snooze button and is going to take on the day!

Nice Tim! Glad the missus is doing better. To this point I think I’ve actually avoided being stung by a wasp of any kind so I’m not sure what kind of reaction I’d have. Bee stings do make the immediate area swell and itch some, so I imagine it’d be similar?

Back to the Dovo this morning and it's all good. Same routine this morning and the Semogue is coming right along. I would imagine it will soften up more in no time, but it has a good feel to it. I went with a 30 second load time on the soap and started with a very wet brush. This produced a really bubbly lather, but it worked into a really nice stable lather. I had enough lather for 3 passes and a post shave lather. Did I mention that I really like the scent of this soap? If you wonder why I post the same process day in and day out, (I know @NurseDave doesn't, he's in management) there are two reasons. First, is because it is what I am doing. Secondly, a new person can jump in at any point in my journal and know exactly what I did.

Hit the leather strop for my standard 50 laps and it was go time. Went with my normal shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Another great shave this morning and I am BBS for the win! This is a razor that has a lapping film edge on it and was finished out on a pasted balsa strop. I haven't been maintaining it on the balsa recently, but it is still keen and buttery smooth. Wrapped everything up with a splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! Nice ... very nice! And still digging it. I will probably run it one more day to finish out the work week. I am off Friday, so that will be a random shave.

Home front-
Hard to believe but another crazy busy work week. I may have mentioned that that will be the new normal. Looks like the weekend schedule is filling up again this week. Have the youngest granddaughter's birthday this weekend. She will be 1 year old. I have the frown and the chips pulled out of the resto razors. Now working on bevel sets as time allows. I am working these on stones only, no film. So we'll see where we land. We'll also have to see what else comes to fruition and what changes. The ebbs and flows keep it interesting. Life is good!
