What's a good budget friendly recommendation?

For reference this is the razor I bought to start with

It works, but I think it's probably not the razor I want to have placed in my sarcophagus with me. I'm noticing that the blade doesn't seem to shave the same on both sides, one has slightly more reveal I think. I like the butterfly design, but it may not be holding the blade as securely as it should, I don't know. So I think I want to try something else, but I don't want to spend a lot on anything just yet. I may just be going through a phase, after all, and my recessive hillbilly DNA may begin to reemerge when I get tired of shaving altogether. I managed to draw a little blood tonight, which just dampened the mood. But I want to keep at it. So what would you gents suggest as a next razor?

Look at e bay for a Gillette tech or Gillette New those are older but can be found relatively in-expensive

I second @BarberDave recommendation to purchase a ‘vintage’ (used) Gillette. A nice Tech would give you excellent shaves. At the upper end of budget friendly you’ll find the fat boy adjustable.

Probably want to keep it under fifty simoleons. I'd probably be ok with previously enjoyed if it was clean. The Gillette idea sounds reasonable. But I wouldn't mind something new either.

Razorock has a number of great modern stainless steel options that are well priced. I have a Game Changer I enjoy.

The humble vintage Gillette Tech is a masterpiece to itself though. Simple, reliable, great shaves for me every time.

You can't go wrong with a vintage Gillette. I find them all the time locally for $3-$10 at antique stores. You can probably find a Tech or a Superspeed for $10-$20 on ebay (with shipping) or get a good deal on a lot of a few razors. The Tech is a 3 piece which is mild and a great shaver. It is on the lighter side, so those that prefer a heavier handle may not like it. The Superspeed is a TTO (twist to open) razor. Slightly more aggressive than the Tech, but still a great beginner razor. You can probably find a Fatboy for $50 or under in good condition. It's an Adjustable TTO and is my favorite Gillette. Thicker, heavier handle and it just feels good in the hand.

One of my favorite modern razors is the Rockwell 6C. ($60). It has different bottom plate that you can swap out to adjust the blade gap to make it more or less aggressive. Good for finding just the right level for you. Well worth the extra cost.

The Merkur 34C Heavy Duty was my first ever modern razor after being a hardcore vintage fanatic. I ended up using it exclusively for a couple years, and is a great shaver. $50-$60

Stirling Soap has some great budget razors for around $25 (skip the $10 Bali though). And while you're there pick up an Ozark Mountain Shave Soap and Aftershave set.

I shy away from any razor blade that comes with a razor. They are usually very cheap and can be poor quality. Get something like a Personna Platinumn Diamond Glide. Personnas have always been my favorite blade, and this is their newest iteration and US made. Nice and sharp, but also very smooth. About $15 for 100 of them.

I like the look of that Rockwell, might go ahead and get it.
