Well this sucks!

So, I was having a good month/year etc....
Then reached up for a light bulb to change it and hear a POP!
I instantly jerked my arm back and hear another POP followed my immediate and horrific pain in my shoulder!
Turns out, I have apparently torn ligaments in my shoulder (and it's my shaving hand)...
Saw a dr,he confirmed and get to have a meeting with a surgeon soon.
So,I'm learning how to use my other arm for shaving.... Wish me luck and you can now call me Patches (cause I've got patches of hair due to using my non dominant hand)
What a fun ride this is!

Yikes!!! That is "no bueno". Hope it's not too serious and you have a quick recovery.

That really DOES suck. Regardless of the impact on shaving the shoulder damage and surgery are their own special kind of suck that I wish you all the best in overcomming.
Learnign to shave with your non-dominant hand will certainly be tricky but it can also be a great opportunity to gain greater enjoyment from the process. Since usign our dominant hand involves a TON of habbit and unconcious activity, shaving with your non-dominant hand will likely require you to go back to the basics (angle, pressure, stroke etc). AND I assume for now even the lather has to be made without the benefit of your dominant hand/arm.
On a more positive note, I have heard that doing things like shaving with your non-dominant hand shakes up your mental state and leads to better cognitive abilities. Maybe this whole thing will lead you to find the meaning of life (its 42) or solve some wicked hard math problem. Or maybe you'll just figure out how to grow a nice beard.
