Got to Houston yesterday. Had some yummy Mexican food for dinner and stopped on the way to NASA to eat at the Waffle House. In terms of the Waffle House in general, grits and the Waffle House waffle, I can say “I don’t get it”.
Well, you also think there’s good Mexican food in Texas so….😂😂😂

Probably the last post until we’re on the other side of the canal. Today we stopped in Cozumel. Just a bunch of tourist junk around the port, but we did a speed boat excursion were we took 2 seater boats out along the coast to a snorkeling spot. Then back to lunch and then back to the ship. Guess what, probably the worst Mexican food we’ve had. The first night we ate at Animators Palate, and last night at Rapunzel’s Palace. Busy busy! I forgot to request a private table, so we’re sat with 3 other couples. The first night was a little much with one guy being a know-it-all who doesn’t need to be asked to tell you all about anything. But it turns out he does pyrotechnics and did stuff for Disney for a long time, so interesting conversation now that he’s laid the ground work.

So… then we at sea for a day and then had a very short and hot stop in Columbia. It appeared the dock workers messed up tying up the ship which made our stop even shorter so it was a quick tour of Cartagena and then back on the ship so we could meet our scheduled time for the locks the next days.

Next day was going through the locks which takes most of the day. People camped out before sunrise to be in the front row at the top of the ship. I got up there early enough to get some pics and then spent the rest of the day watching from around the ship, our veranda, and the hot tub for a while.

After the canal day, was 4 days at sea. My routine was getting up before my wife, getting a latte to enjoy in the hot tub, dry off, and hit the buffet. Then lounge around in swimwear until I remembered to shower and shave sometime before dinner. Then evenings were trivia, live music, and production shows. One of the guests on this sailing was an executive chef from Disney World, so he hosted the cooking demos.

One of Disney’s claim to fame is being the only cruise line that does fireworks at sea. On Pirate Night of course. Some folks go all out for this bringing on full pirate costumes.

Their dining is different as well with 3 main dining rooms with different themes that you have a scheduled rotation through. Your serving team moves with you so they get to know you and your preferences. Some nights it’s just the ambience of the room and other nights there is a show. In Animator’s Palate they have you draw a character on special form and then animate them all for a show at the end of the meal.

Last two stops were Cabo and Ensenada. Cabo we got off long enough to get some Mezcal/Tequila from the Red Rocker’s place and then have lunch at a place we went to a couple of years ago. Ensenada was also just a brief waking around for us. Luckily we found if you went one block past the junk, there was a nice street with better stores and restaurants. We wandered onto a little outdoor stall which Anthony Bourdain had apparently featured. Almost all shellfish so I didn’t get to partake, but my wife had a shrimp tostada for less than $3 which I could smell the freshness of.
