Twist Adjustable DE Recommendation

Thanks for the recommendation and the Progress offer KJ. My little brother has the Progress and let me try it out, but it just wasn't for me. For some odd reason I felt that one side shaved differently than the other. He also had the Futur and it didn't have the same problem, but it just felt weird in my hand.
That would be the legendary (and much discussed) blade alignment issue. Some have complained after loading a blade up there was more blade reveal on one side. Apparently Merkur addressed this issue and have sorted it out by introducing new molds. I have never had a problem with my Progress which is an older version or my Mergress (which again is hot rodded to cure this issue apparently) which is a new version. However, if it didn’t feel right to you...it didn’t feel right. I love my Fatboy(s)

Wow I did not even know that was an issue. My brother said he couldn't tell a difference. Interesting.

Once again, late to the discussion. Many are not looking fully at the original request, but many also have made awesome suggestions. If you want a TTO that is adjustable, a good modern one to look at is the Viking Blades Emperor series. I owned the Augustus for a period of time and have nothing but good things to say about the performance and build quality. I wasn't too keen of the long handle, but they listened to my suggestion and came up with the Meiji recently. Take a look at it and try it out. They sell it on Amazon and comes with a pretty good return policy.

I actually just saw that one! I was reading up on it a little bit and I think I would like the Meiji for the shorter handle. Since you have used it, are there any razors that are a good comparison to it?

I can't really compare it to any specific razor as it is an adjustable. Generally it shaved very smoothly as a TTO, similar to a Weishi or Super Speed. The adjustment is a continuously variable type like the Rex or Progress where you can dial in 1.25 or 3.5 if you want. I especially liked the dual safety bar, with one side being smooth and the other side being that micro groove design. The fat handle is great for gripping and the weight is well balanced. It does have a feature which is good for a TTO where if the blade drops in tilted, the doors will not close. The only reason why I got rid of it is because I was never a big fan of TTO razors and I had my vintage Progress (pre blade alignment problem).

Awesome information! Thank you!
