The Heysi Missive

Well.....my Granddaugther, Hazel, had a minor surgery this morning. She's been having chronic ear infections (something her mother also suffered from) and this morning they put in tubes to help with the drainage behind her ears. She was a trooper and made the nurses laugh with how she poses dramatically when she's nearly asleep (she has a tendency to put her hands behind her head like she's lounging when she's falling asleep). Everything went well and they say she should be fine in a day or so. They told my daughter that she's basically been living like her head is underwater for the past few months. She has been starting to talk and the doctor expects her to really improve now that her ears are clear. Plus the increased drainage should help her to balance better and they expect her to take off on standing and walking. So it seems like she's been held back by a few drops of fluid. But now the restraints are off. I'm looking forward to seeing how much she grows and learns in the next few months. That should make the visit in 18 days that much more fun.

See ya Later!

Me eldest son had them as well. I was in college that morning, and was distracted all day. Glad she’s doing well. 👍

Quick Granddaugther update:

She has turned into a jabber-jaw. She spent most of last night saying Mama and Dada over and over and over and over. And later as they were trying to get her to go to sleep (something that normally isn't difficult but was last night) she crawled over to the headboard on her bed and stood up on her own!!!

I would have to say that the tubes have made a significant difference.

My middle daughter had that surgery around 18 months. Crazy how instantly she changed for the better after that. We had to have surgery due to when she got an ear infection and discovered she has a penicillin allergy. So the ear tubes is what the ENT recommended to help relieve the pain and infection she was enduring.

Well....daughter and granddaughter arrived safely last night. Both looked excited and wiped out (they arrived at 11 pm Vegas time). But they had a great flight....seems my granddaughter takes after me and my daughter in that plane trips are fun and exciting. My wife and SIL (who had to stay home for work) are nervous wreaks during flights. Both the girls should be taking a long nap today and then we can kick off the 2 weeks with less exhausted visitors.

Not much going on until we drive to LA on wednesday. Then we go to Disneyland on thursday, an Angel's game on friday and a funeral/memorial on saturday.....then back here to Vegas for a week of just hanging out.

On the plus side....I was able to get the working side of the house caught up to the relaxing and living side of the house....clean and organized-wise (the kitchen cabinets have been a nightmare of stuff not where it should be.....that was the main focus on saturday). Just need to organize the guest room and the sewing/craft/project room (and thats not my domain....so I'm staying clear of there). I wish it had all been done quicker but taking the extra time has been less stressful and there's now a lot less stuff in the house (Goodwill has been taking so much off our hands).

On the even more plus side.....I got my stereo all set up and functioning again. Cleaning is so much easier with music and I immediately cranked up some old Police live from 1979. Quickly had to fix a speaker cable but before long.......it was rockin'. Currently running the cd changer and turntable but I'm working on a digital jukebox to replace all the cds. I should be able to pull up any song in my catalog and blast it out...digitally....to any room in the house....and even out to the front or back porch. Still working out the kinks in the software but hopefully in a few months...my entire collection of music will be at my fingertips, any hour of the day.

Shaving journal:

Lets see.........I shaved with my usual razor (1947 Gilette Aristocrat) using my usual blade (gilette Silver Blue) with my usual brush (Paladin synth) ........but I used a soap I haven't used in a few months...CBL Spaghetti Western. Such a great scent. And this one lathers up probably better than any other non-Williams soap that I own. Great stuff.

See ya Later!

This is going to blow your mind, but *I* can pull up almost any song in your catalong right now!

Have you digitized your Sabbath 8 tracks yet?
No one has done that. Ever. For good reason. 8 tracks sucked. Oh...they were cool and all....until the track switched mid song. For a long time I couldn't listen to Sgt. Peppers without hearing the For the Benefit of Mr. Kite midway through the song fading out for a second.....a pause....a click...and then the song resuming. Nope....8 tracks were awful.
