I'm doing the "S" thing this year and I owe it ALL to @NurseDave He has motivated me so much to try. Thanks Dave !!!

2020 "S" Thing

1. Dave in KY exception 1 or 2 new razors I have my eye on and any Cadre Exclusive/limited type thing

I'm not going to use that S word, or sign up, but Im pretty sure that I won't be getting much this year anyway. If it do it would be to replace things that I've finished. There are also a couple of razors I'd like to add to the collection (Vector), but it's pretty iffy tbh.
However, I do foresee putting to much into Fragrances this year to make up for it.
 
I've been on a binge journey for nearly 2 years and want to see if I can pull the reins back and contentedly enjoy the things I've been fortunate enough to get without having to feel I need everything else I see. I think I can although it will be a definite retraining of the past 2 years focus and thinking.

Was going to ignore the instigator but I'll say while not ruling out possible trades(all "S" things allow it) of things I use and decide I no longer want to keep in the den, that will not be a focus of mine as it if overdone would not align with my personal goal. Dave should be a lawyer the way he's trying to write this up 😂😂😂
 
Well...if Bourbon Dave doesn't want something he has...he shouldn't be aloud to trade for it...he should just give it away as to not add anymore to his inventory. And since I have been a very good boy this year...I should get all of his stuff! ☺

Im definitely curbing my spending this year. I’m at a similar point you are, Dave. There’s nothing I need or want, right now. I just refuse to join a “S”, in case something new pops up..... you know, like new scents of CBL soap or some new limited edition Halloween soap/set. But aside from pop ups like that, there is literally nothing out there that exists today, that I’ll be purchasing over the next year. (except maybe some back ups of CBL, especially if it goes on sale)...... (oh, and Black Friday sales next year, that are just too good, usually I use that time to buy stuff for PIFs anyway). Seeeee..... I just keep coming up with exceptions!

I am on vacation, so you have to give me a chance to wake up...

I assume we are following the rules provided in the original "S Word" thread (The Dreaded 2019 TSC "S Word" Thread), at least I will be, except that I have 4 exceptions in my list rather than 3.

2. dkeester - first six months of 2020 - exceptions 1) a new strop, 2) 1 or 2 new, non-vintage straight razors, 3) a Paladin brush, 4) 1-3 plates for Karve DE

I, like @Dave in KY, have an overabundance of stuff (mostly software) sitting new and unused in my den that I want to try and then use up. I want to spend more time honing my straight razors. I want to try and find more joy in the things I already have. The stuff I don't like will be either PIFed or traded. Let's see how many 3017 kills I can get this year.

I am going to give a think. I currently have my bestest stuff, but I have a limited amount of soap (prior to Nov 7, it was only 3 tubs, with the bottom showing in one! Then @CBLindsay made a special unscented soap for me, followed up with an unscented Tonsorial. With genuine gratitude and sincerity, Thank You @CBLindsay !! But now I have 5 tubs!) Anyhow, the real point to this meandering thought is maybe I should join up. I really don't want or need any more stuff, I just want to replace favorite soaps as I use them up, rather than depleting all my soaps. I will be getting back to this thread soon with my decision.

It isn't the list of things that I want that is the problem, it is the laundry list of unplanned purchases that is the problem.
