Tabac shaving soap

This is now my number one favourite commercial shaving soap and for a very good reason!

Ease of lathering: 10/10–One of the easiest soaps you can lather. It’s the original tallow formula.

Longevity of lather: 10/10–It stays perfectly stable for as many passes as you need!

General skincare: 8/10–So soothing and comfortable!

Scent: 9/10–I love its old school European scent so much!

Price: 7/10–I agree it’s not cheap but it’s well worth it!

Would I buy again: 10/10–What a question - of course!

Tabac is a delightful soap - that’s all there is to it!

It is one of my favorites. In fact, I shave with it every week on Tabac Tuesdays. It is one of about three or four that I will replace when I finish the puck. I am on my fourth puck. I won a pif of my first Tabac soap with container in March of 2014. I had my first shave with it on April 5, 2014. I have the same container, I just replace the puck.

What I reviewed is the original tallow version. I also have Tabac tallow sticks - one in use and a brand new backup.

The tallow version was a standard d of soap performance for many years. Too bad it’s gone now.

Tabac is a fantastic soap! I've used the Tallow along with both iterations of the veggie formula. I love them all!
I never tried the veggie version - who knows, maybe it’s awesome. But the tallow one….hoo hah it’s a treasure!

Oh no!

Becoming allergic to something you enjoy sucks!

Jeff
Yes, it was out of the blue and quite shocking. Tabac, old spice, and several Barrister and Mann scents(Fougère Gothic & Angelic), all Fine Accoutrements scents, and I suspect more. They call it contact dermatitis, which isn’t so much an allergy as it is an immune response. When I use one of these soaps or aftershaves it burns my skin like a sunburn and then on occasion I’ll develop blisters. Eventually after the burn goes away, my skin will peel like from a sunburn. The first time it happed to me, the skin on my pals even my calluses peeled off.

THANKFULLY, I now avoid those scents and am very careful with new ones.

One of the first soaps I'd tried - a lather bomb for me then.
The scent is not for everyone, but if it works for you - Tabac people are die hards man.

This thread reminds me of Irisch Moos. The shave stick, not the A/S.

I just heard the soap and stick are discontinued. Something to do with the manufacturer of the soap base. However, the cream will still be produced. Sad for all of you who love this stuff. 😮‍💨

I've got heaps of Tabac tallow until I rest in peace, nothing to worry about.
