Straight Razor of the day

Razor Thiers Le Grelot 6/8 - On Loan 1st Use!
Trying for the 1st time an on-loan modern Thiers Le Grelot...beautiful looking, nice weight & balance with a smooth and comfortable edge honed on jnats. While the kind & generous owner showed how well the edge cuts through his whiskers (I was impressed)...he's in his 30s...my older whiskers say nope...:LOL: Managed in 3+1passes for a ccs result only. I have the owner's permission for this razor to go through the pasted balsa progression...yay! Let's see how tomorrow.

Geneva Cutlery Co. Pyramid 7n. Upon further inspection I now agree with @Luecke3262 this one is nickle plated.

I wouldn't say its a unicorn, but it is rarer than most. I'm sure this was a period where they were trying to make Straight razors, more user friendly. Though, after honing, the bevel at the edge and on the spine would be bare steel, and it has to basically be maintained with the same standard of care as any straight razor. At that point, nickel plating is pointless, no? Still cool that they tried it!

How did it shave?

It was a good shave. You can tell the off section of the blade isn't quite as keen as the rest, but it is not a serious problem. Been working on some new to me techniques, so this one is a bit softer of an edge, which has been my goal. Thanks for the razor, it is quite nice.

Nice, the next one I send you will have one of my edges on it and hopefully you'll send me one of yours.
