• Brush: Semogue – 1470 (Boar)
• Razor: Ern – Model 421; 11/16, Full Hollow, Square Point
• Soap: Talent Soap Factory – Peppermint Patti (Duck Fat Base)
• Aftershave: Myrsol – Formula K After Shave
• Balm: Eleven – Unscented Aftershave Balm
• Fragrance: Olympic Orchids – Seattle Chocolate

A good shave today with the good stuff. As usual, the duck fat base from TSF is awesome. I just sent a gentleman a sample before using it and can’t wait to hear what he thinks. Peppermint Patti is not too sweet, and Formula K is a nice pairing.

Eager to see how Olympic Orchids’s Seattle Chocolate plays out. It’s supposed to have bittersweet chocolate that mellows out into moss, fir, and wood. I love the way that TSF and Olympic Orchids have chocolate notes that are not overly sweet. I hope this can be one that makes sense in warmer weather. It is raining here, so it is a good day to test it out.

Have an awesome day, friends!

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

"Best Shave of the Week" candidate this morning! Returned to Martin de Candre and their excellent "Nature" shave soap. a wonderful light, powdery scent with an incredible lather built with the WWBW badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, vintage Williams "Aqua Velva" aftershave lotion, CBL Premium Barber Powder & Dior "Eau Sauvage" EdT.

BBS bliss!!

Hope you have a great day. :)

Wednesday 5/20 Shave
MODERN MAY

My second Gold Dollar purchase when I started straights
Never shaved with it until now – had Adam put a JNat edge on it
One pass knockdown with the Gold Dollar – Karve clean up
Overall a fantastic BBS shave result in two passes

Story behind this razor:

I sent this to Adam (Ye Ole Straight n Strop) with a bunch of other razors for honing
He was like "I don't do Gold Dollars" - I was like just send it back, I didn't know
A Day or so later he texts me "Man that Gold Dollar really honed up well"
He was persistant and today I was pleasantly rewarded with his honing skills

Razor: Gold Dollar 208 – Light Imprint
Blade: Ye Ole Stright n Strop JNat (1X)
Clean Up: KARVE OC-F Plate/Astra Blue
Lather: TOBS Royal Forest Cream
Brush: Vintage Rubberset No. 89 Horse
Post Shave: Pitralon Splash

Post Shave: Barrister & Mann Seville Aftershave

Williams Wednesday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Williams Mug Shave Soap
Jayaruh #425 Synthetic
Schick J3 Golden 500
Personna Injector Blade
CWR
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Brute After Shave

I started with the cold water rinse. The Williams lathered well with the Jayaruh #425. I did two passes with the Schick J3 Golden 500 razor with a Personna injector blade. After a cold water rinse, I finished with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Brute Classic After Shave. I am now clean, smooth, and refreshed.

Wednesday morning:

Cool shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 4
PAA Cold Spices SS
Lubriderm Moisturizer
PAA Cold Spices AS Splash

This Cold Spices stuff is getting to the point where I’m hating it more and more whenever I use it. The soap gave me what seemed to be great lather for the first pass, it was very slick but then the slickness disappeared - not only that, on the third pass the lather thinned out a lot. The menthol felt nice and cooling but it really screwed up the so called Shulton Old Spice scent, and to add insult to injury my face felt dry. Thank goodness for the Lubriderm moisturizer which helped me. Finally the lousy Cold Spices aftershave which tried to smell like the Shulton Old Spice but failed miserably - the menthol was the cause of it. Despite these monstrosities I still managed to get a great three pass BBS shave. Did I enjoy it? Definitely not. Back to the good stuff tomorrow.

Have a nice day - be well and stay safe!

Beautiful shave, Mark. I have that MdC and I don't detect any scent. Maybe as I get further into the jar. Have a great rest of your day.

Fabulous shave this afternoon. The MdC lathers up with only a few swirls of the puck. I am amazed at how much lather I built in the bowl. I had enough think and frothy lather for 5 - 6 passes. I'll have to learn to dial it back with this soap. The Rockwell 6s R-3 was super smooth with a Gillette Platinum (1st use).

Finished off with Alum, Thayers Cucumber, Ariana and Evans Unmasked Splash, and Stirling Unscented Balm.

I am smooth as
glass BBS finish.

Oy, this farkakteh soap is taking longer than I expected to kill off. Even the aftershave is only about 3/4 finished. The sooner I get frigging rid of them the happier I’ll be - they’re both such dreck! 😂😂😂

Thanks for your wishes Akhi!
