SOTD May 2026

12 May, 2026

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Phenomenal shave this morning! Returned to Macduffs Soap Co. and their excellent "Aspen Parkland" shave soap. No scent but it makes a lather slicker than whale snot! Three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, Ogallala Bay Rum, Limes & Peppercorns aftershave splash, CBL Barber Powder & Murray & Lanman Peruvian Florida Water to top everything off..

BBS bliss!!

Yeah, had to return to the Karve. The shaves are wonderfully smooth with it. Haven't used a Macduffs soap in a long time and I had forgotten that a little goes a long way. Loaded the brush more than I should have and easily had enough lather for 5 to 6 passes.

Hope you have a great day. :)

I've never shaved with whale snot. I didn't even know that whales have snot coming out of their blow holes. Where do you buy this super slick snot prepared for shaving?🤣🤣🤣

Tuesday morning:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 10
Stirling Electric Sheep SS
Lubriderm Moisturizer
Brut Attraction Totale AS Splash

This Electric Sheep is a mutton tallow based treasure with such a lovely lemon/citronella/eucalyptus scent that’s so well balanced, not only is the lather fabulous it’s so slick, and it leaves my skin with a healthy tingle as well as a very soothing post-shave feeling. The Lubriderm moisturizer and the Attraction Totale aftershave were a perfect finishing combo - this aftershave smells great. Three passes gave me a most enjoyable BBS shave that was so easy peasy!

Wishing you all an awesome day - be well and stay safe!

Awesome shave, Akhi! Stirling just did a Glacial release for the summer, including Glacial Electric Sheep.

I do! It's one of a select few that I wouldn't hesitate to replenish. Yes it's expensive but to me it's worth it. Maggards sell samples so if you want to give it a try at a reasonable price point that my be an avenue worth exploring.
MdC, MWF, and Tabac are my top three.

Paul
In term of cost per shave, MdC is a huge bargain. Itll last as long as 10 tubs of a so-called artisan soap
