Another day, another A’crat and this one is a fav of mine. This particular one is a USA 1946-47 version and is in truly immaculate original condition. Whoever had it barely used it as the knurling on the handle is new and the finish perfectly preserved. I have not polished this one. It shaves even better than it looks.
Today’s soap choice was Barrister & Mann Tuesday which is a wonderful lavender and violet accord. Seasonal scent yes, very much so but what a great scent and performing soap. Topped it off with the matching AS.
Loaded the A’crat up with a fresh Personna Med Prep and proceeded to lather up with a custom creation. This brush comes courtesy of two community members who graciously donated it in a PIF as a lot of three. This brush is beautiful and has custom turned maple handle that was sourced from an ancient fallen tree on the creator's property. An approximately 24mm Horse Hair knot sits in this one. I have never used a horse hair brush before and I was very impressed. Soft with great cushion and though not a pronounced amount of backbone it just seemed perfect for the loft. Spray on this brush was beautiful and for a first outing of any brush just about perfect. Only detractor is I stopped at three passes because I could have gone until lunch lathering up with this one! Beautiful three pass BBS shave was achieved all while enjoying some pretty nice shaving eye candy! Let the weekend begin...happy shaves all!
