Recently received a new brush from Semogue: the “Mistura” mixed badger/boar knot in the taj (resin?) handle. The handle is really nice—the pictures below don’t really do it justice. The material feels really high quality and solid in the hand.

I’ve always been interested in mixed badger/boar knots. IIRC, this one is supposedly 50% premium boar (the same boar in the regular SOC—a brush I really love) and 50% two-band badger (I’ve never tried Semogue’s two-band).

In in any event, I’m excited to try it out. Hoping to have a chance to do so later today... the pictures below show it straight out of the packaging. eBay Vendor was also nice to include a free (quite sizable) tube of Estoril shaving cream. Anyone have any experience with this stuff or also have their eye on these brushes?

 
Okay...that is a really great looking brush! I have always wondered about mixed brushes with boar and badger. I like either hair for my brush but they both have very different characteristics. I am interested to see what you have to say about it later! Thanks for sharing!
 
Outstanding acquisition!!! The mixed knots are intriguing. Might have to be a purchase a little later on down the line. Looking forward to your impressions!
 
That is the one type of brush I have not tried... A mixed knot. Please follow up on your experience.

Nice brush. I have a Maggards 26mm mixed and I love it. Mine is 70 badger/ 30 boar though.
 
I've been meaning to update this for a while now. After 2+ months of use (in rotation with other brushes), this brush has turned out really nice. It was a bit stiff at first and as a Semogue product, one would expect the break-in to be on the longer side. However, it's opened up nicely now and seems to improve with every shave. The boar bristles have all started to split and become very soft. This is nicely balanced by the more rigid two-band badger. Really a nice combo of backbone, scrub, and softness. Highly recommend this brush if you're interested in trying a quality mixed knot with a very nice handle. Here's a shot of the brush after a shave:
