Many, many MANY apologies to all for the lateness of the post. And especially to my Rudolph buddy, Dave (and his wife). This has been an eventful Christmas, details of which will be in my upcoming journal post.
My gift was a plethora of Ohio's greates offerings! Grippo's chips (the OFFICIAL chip of the Cincinnati Reds & very tasty), some delicious-smelling coffees from Big Island Coffee Roasters (definitely will be drinking this tomorrow morning), some barbecue sauce from Montgomery Inn Restaurant that may very well be going on the ribs I plan to smoke for New Years (if the weather cooperates). Really eager to try it as it's all natural with no high fructose corn syrup, and was awarded 5 stars by
Bon Appétit magazine.
Also included was a can of Skyline Chili. I read the back of the label and it refers to making something called a "5 Way" (kinky!!!
) by combining the chili with cheese, onions and SPAGHETTI!!!
SPAGHETTI?!?!?! WHAT MADNESS IS THIS?!?!
Now, this to me sounds sacrilegious, and goes against EVERYTHING I know about preparing, serving and eating chili. However, I'm nothing if not gastronomically adventurous, so I'm going to follow the recipe and give it a try. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.
Also included was a gift that Dave's wife, Barb made after prowling my profile. It's a stone which has been hand painted with a US Navy anchor, a hot cup of coffee, the Masonic "Square and Compases" and "Happy Hogan" along the bottom. This is one of the COOLEST gifts I've ever received and will be going in my office at work. Gonna have to find a stand for it.
Finally, included with the other gifts was a birthday card and gift which came in a case that looked exactly like a variety pack of Lifesavers candy. No kidding, it wasn't until the third or fourth time looking did I realize it was shaving soap!! Very cool gift with a very cool presentation! Smells great and I can definitely smell one with that earthy, petrichor scent that I do like very much.
Thank you so much Dave & Barb!! You helped make my Christmas great and I hope y'all have had a great one as well.
