The process-
So back to the grind and early morning shaves. Actually got up a few minutes before the alarm today, so had plenty of time to enjoy a shave. I haven't used the Proraso in a while and Sandalwood sounded really good for the week. Kept the Omega just to put some shaves on it. Ran the brush wet and hit the soap for 30 seconds. This whipped up a really nice lather that smelled great. I had plenty of soap for my shave and the post shave.

40 laps on leather on the J Allen and I was ready to go. I went with my standard three pass shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Had a great shave on a fresh, smooth edge and I am BBS for the win! Nice ... very nice!

Wrapped everything up with a splash of water and a drip dry. A splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! Oh yeah it was. I really dig this sandalwood scent and it is missus approved. That was a really nice shave to start off the week and I am ready for the day. Time to grace the workplace with my presence.

Home Front-
Since I was off my feet yesterday, I decided to goof around with the stones and the J Allen. So I hit the razor for 20 laps on the Naniwa 12k. It was sticky so I assumed it was good. It also tree topped nicely. Then went with 50 laps each on the .25 and .01 balsa strops. My oh my, that produced a nice and sharp edge that was really smooth. Most excellent. I'll have to work on some of the other razors a bit later. Some other good news is that the bandage replacement last night was trauma free. Bandages didn't stick and there was no fluid loss, so it should be all downhill now. Life is good!

The other option sounds painful. I was always a champion of soaking with saline first if it could stick vs the yank and pray method.

Well the Quote feature isn't working for me right now but on the topic of honing, The only reason i keep a count of strokes anymore is if i am trying something new or only going in one direction. It makes sure i am working both sides properly. beyond that it is all by feel and by eye. I probably tend to do 40-50 total laps on my finishing hone but most of those are with only the lightest contact between steel and stone. In my experience over honing is a pressure problem, not a number of laps problem.

That being said it looks like you figured something out that worked great for the JA so that's great! Hope you can heal up fast!

Thanks Kyle. I have a few more edges I want to play with and see what I get. I’m also wondering if I can replace the balsa with a Black Ark. I’m curious if it will up the 12k in sharpness and smooth it out like the balsa.

On the healing, my toes thank you too :)

Idk what my finishing stone is made of but I have never messed with the pasted stropping stuff and dont feel the need to.

The process-
So ... yesterday I posted a quick shave update and some of you were disappointed. I know. Hey ... I hear you. So today, here is the whole enchilada. Ok ... I may or may not have hit the snooze button this morning. Or I may have just wanted to try out this new to me Super Speed. I have had one of this model in the past and thought I would get another for a travel razor. Paired that up a Wizamet blade that @bentheduck generously sent me. Kept the remainder of the kit the same and got down to business. Went a little wetter on the brush today and whipped up a lot of lather. Some may disagree, but I think the Sandalwood smells great.

I went with my standard three pass shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Had a remarkable shave and I am BBS for the win! Man, that really is a great blade! Curious to know about the longevity. I haven't ventured away from the Astra SP much, but I could buy some of these blades. The shave was easy peasy and I am silky smooth. Gotta love it! Wrapped everything up with a splash of water and a drip dry. A splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! Oh yeah, there it is. I could do that again tomorrow. Anyway, what can I say about the Proraso line that I haven't said in the past? I am a fan and as a bonus, it is missus approved too. Look out world, here I come!

Home Front-
Been a quiet week on the home front, just trying to stay off my feet as much as I can. Work is crazy busy and it will be a full week of that ... what?! IKR? My toes are healing up some and I have a new fountain pen on the way. I may have mentioned that Ben also sent Deb a sample of Stirling Plumeria, which she loves. Uh Ben ... it's been discontinued. Checked with Rod and he may bring it back in 2021 though. But really, thank you for introducing her to that scent and to Stirling. She hadn't wanted to try any of my Stirling yet. I did search high and low and found a tub for Deb's birthday. It has been ordered, I just have to hide it for a few weeks. That's all I got for you today. Life is good!

Brownie point for Ben!

Plumeria flowers have such a wonderfully luxurious and exotic scent, glad you were able to find something Tim!

Nice shave Tim and yes I LOVE the Wizamet. Got 125 when they were about $25 for them and they have gone thru the roof. Found a deal coming from Russia (I hope, I do have a tracking number that doesn't work stateside) for 250 for $50 coming. 375 of them should hold me...........If you want the link let me know (y)
