The process-
Decided to hit the Patchouli again today. Did I mention that I dig Patchouli? Anyway, mixed up a bit of the gear and got to it. Stayed with the 30 second load time and the boar was running a bit wet. I really like this brush, I think it's my favorite of the few brushes I have. Whipped up a ton of lather again, but not quite as much as the DSC badger.
Went with 40 laps on leather this morning, just because. I also went with my standard three pass shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Another outstanding shave and I am BBS for the win! Yup ... nailed it. I had forgotten that this razor needs a bit of work. I need to tighten the hinge pin just a bit. It's plenty sharp, but I may still hit it on the balsa this evening as well. Wrapped everything up with a splash of water and a drip dry. A bit of the ASB and everything was right as rain! Very nice shave and a great start to the day. Let's do this.

TGITHMYF! No snooze again today ... what is going on around here? So this week I threw the shave rotation out the window too. What to choose today ... what to choose? So I grabbed the Silver Fox. This was a home brew sample that someone had sent to me to test, so it's not from the website. I don't care much for the scent (it's ok), I am more interested in testing the performance. The Omega 48 got the nod today also. So loaded the soap for 30 seconds and got to it. The lather whipped up nice and quick. I had it a bit thick, but it took water well. No issues with the lather at all.
Went with 40 laps on leather and I was ready. I stayed with my standard three pass shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. Had a great shave the the Silver Fox/Dovo combo, it worked very well. This is the second straight that I picked up and it just delivers. It's still rocking the film edge and I scored a BBS for the win!
Wrapped everything up with a splash of water and a drip dry. A glug of the AS and everything was right as rain! Loved the shave and the post shave feel was nice. I need to use this a bit more, ya know ... just because. I need to focus more on the slickness and residual slickness. I wasn't fully awake this morning ... so I don't know. With that said, I guess it was ok with the shave results I got. Being a lighter scented soap, the Oland covered it up perfectly. I am ready to knock this work week out.

A few errands and such planned for the weekend. The missus and I scored some nice samples from @bentheduck, thanks again Ben! I came out of the Shaving Journals for a bit and stumbled into this Pens, inks and related..... What are you guys doing to me? My gosh I have a bunch of reading to do. Then to find my first pen. Grrrrrrrr! Life is good!

For an entry level fountain pen (I'm assuming that's what you're talking about), I'll offer my 2 cents, in the FWIW category. Personally, I have 3 recommendations, and they are under $30 each. In no particular order:
Pilot Explorer
Pilot Metropolitan
TWSBI Eco
Both those Pilot models have the same nib, and are, for the most part, smooth writers right out of the gate. Also, speaking of Pilot, you could get a Pilot Varsity, which is all of about $3 (it's a disposable), and see how you like it as it has an excellent writing nib. The TWSBI Eco is also an excellent writing pen. The nib is a good one and the pen really feels nice to write with. I have several Metro's, in both standard nibs, as well as stub nibs. And the same goes for the TWSI Eco. The Explorer is relatively new (I think) and I've just got one of those.
Oh yes, pens, nibs, inks.....the rabbit hole is unending!

I was a big proponent of the Silver Fox formula. It was really almost better than anything else at the time when I tried it (actually had a puck from the originator), but I no longer have that soap and with the leaps and bounds that all the artisans are making I bet that the Silver Fox formula doesn't really hold up any more. At least not as well as my favorites. Nice shave!

Happy Friday the 13th! I had an afternoon shave and it was glorious! Gather around while I spin this tale of wonder! Today Triumph got the nod. I know I’ve mentioned that the Zenith is my current fav, so it got the nod too. Hit the soap for 30 seconds and got to work. Started with a wet lather which whipped up nicely and man oh man ... that scent. Plenty of lather to go around ... it was fantastic! For me, Stirling is elite status.
40 laps on leather for the PermEdge. I went with my standard three pass shave of WTG, XTG and ATG and have no drama to report. That’s where it was brothers and sisters ... that’s when the magic happened. I am BBS for the win! That’s the money shave right there! Oh yeah!
Wrapped everything up with a splash of water and a drip dry. A healthy glug of the AS and everything was right as rain! Truly glorious I tell you! Life is good!
Home Front-
The late shave today was due to a Dr visit this morning. Had to have a toenail from each foot removed. So I am lounging today ... ouch. Nothing scheduled so far for the weekend. Life is good!
Triumph is one great smelling soap and aftershave! Ooh! a visit to the Toe Bro...I can feel it all the way here! Hope those nail beds toughen up soon!
