Ramblings of a MilkCrate

Thanks for the prayers and well wishes. Please keep them coming. It has been a day of highs and lows. Scored a 6 pack of TP and was most excited. Now I can wipe with reckless abandon.

I keep my hair clipped at 1/8”, so it’s short. I got stung on the top of the head by a Yellow Jacket while working outside. The missus has been wrestling with this stone (or whatever it is) for two days now because she really wanted to stay away from hospitals. Well she couldn’t take it anymore. She is in the ER and I am in the parking lot. Hope they can get her sorted soon.

As long as they see it's moving, The narcotics they'll send her home with are invaluable. I do 1/8 inch as well ;)

I know that "Look". The Kidney stone thing is no joke. My old man was hit by them several times. He used to eat Rolaids like candy. And the calcium made the stones. Twice he had to have them blasted while he sat in a tub. Then he was able to pass them. Like little pieces of sand coming out. Wish her the best.
More like spikey golf balls, based on my experience.

I had a kidney stone the size of a period at the end of a sentence, and I would not wish it on anyone. I'm sending my best wishes for effective pain medication and a quick and painless passing.

We are back home. It is confirmed that it is a stone. They gave her a couple of IV bags, but it didn’t pass. They said it was a 4.1 and stuck. They gave her a couple of scripts and told her to see a urologist. Thanks for the prayers, positive thoughts, good vibes, etc.

Post Shave-

CC Venture AS

The Process-
Early-sh morning shave today. Hit the snooze button way too many times this morning, but got my shave on. Not sure why, but I was really tired this morning. So ... staying random today ... again. This has been a weird change up for me since I usually use the same shave set for an entire work week. What am I saying? I just started the week and I may stick with it. Hmm. The CC Venture got the nod today, just because. I like the soap base and I have gotten some super slick shaves with this base. Today was not exception. A 30 second load time and lots of water yielded a fun, wet mess. The Synth made quick work of it, but I'm still on the fence with Synthetic brushes. Did I mention that I had a ton of lather whipped up?

The Super Adjustable was on deck today. It's fairly new to me and hasn't seen a whole lot of action. Tody it was due. I went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. A fantastic shave! I had a soapy wet lather mess going on and the razor just glided over it removing the whiskers with no mercy. The light scent of the Venture continuing throughout the shave. That was some goodness right there and I am BBS for the win! Yup, I'll take that all week. Had plenty of lather left for a post shave lather while I cleaned the shave equipment.

Wrapped the shave up with a quick rinse and pat dry. A healthy splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! The AS carries forward the great scent of Venture. I've mentioned it before, but I wish the scent was a bit stronger on the soap and AS. But it's good stuff. That was a great start to the day and I am hoping for a better one than yesterday. Life is good!

Home Front-
Back to the grind today. No update on the missus yet, I am letting her sleep as long as she needs. Other than that, just moving forward.

Shave-
J Allen SR
RR 400 Synth
Shannon's Haymarket Vetiver soap (sample)

Post Shave-
Post shave lather
Avon Lather AS

The Process-
Early morning shave today. On deck is a soap sample that @Graybeard57 was kind enough to send to me. I have not tried a Shannon's soap before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The soap is a softer soap and I dropped an almond sized bit into the copper bowl and got after it. Off the sample, I couldn't tell what the scent was exactly, but it wasn't unpleasant. That's my untrained nose for you. The synth brush held more water than I thought it was, so my lather started out really wet. I just kept working it and built up a decent lather, that was low density and had a nice scent. When whipping up the lather, the scent opened up and it was Citrus forward to me. I could tell there was something else just below the surface of that Citrus, but I couldn't tell what it was. According to the description, there is also Vetiver and Oakmoss in there.

20 laps on leather this morning because I was lazy. The edge on this razor is sharp enough to shave well, but it just needs a bit more. I'll have to see what I can do about that. I went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. This soap has some really good slickness and residual slickness. That was a great shave and I am BBS for the win! I looked up the soap on Maggard's and it lists some good ingredients for a very reasonable price. They also have some AS splashes of some of the scents, also at a reasonable price. Sounds like a good deal to me.

Wrapped the shave up with a quick rinse and pat dry. I didn't have a matching splash for this, so Avon Leather got the nod. A healthy splash of the Avon and everything was right as rain! This is a scent that I haven't used much, but I dig it. It starts out a bit strong and mellows out nicely. Yup, I am ready for the day. Life is good!

Home Front-
The missus has a doctor appointment tomorrow, so that is good. Last year I had noted a heavy, oppressive force moving into our community. Like a terrible storm, rolling in and inflicting massive damage and casualties. We watched that force for about a month or so as it slowly moved closer and closer to us. It seemed as if the impending doom lasted forever as our community was torn apart with bits scattered into the winds. Thankfully our house held strong and we were able to overcome. In the devastation that was left behind, we were still standing. I didn't realize at the time that the same force would be descending upon our township once again. This one appears to be fast moving and even more destructive than last year. By the looks of it, it should be moving through next week.

Agreed. I love her soaps; haven't tried the splashes yet. She makes custom soaps at a very reasonable price. Both of her soap bases are excellent, IMO/E.
