The Process-
Early morning shave today. Hmm ... where to start? The soap, I guess. This is one I recently picked up in a trade, so it's a first use for me. The citrus off the puck smelled like a good match for Florida Water, so that's a plus. I loaded it for 30 seconds and it built a nice lather, and it seemed to hold a good amount as water as well. I did lose the scent during the shave and I was picking up another scent. It was just below the surface, but I couldn't identify it. The Vulfix got the nod today and will probably get the finger the next time. I have a love/hate relationship with this brush ... as I'm sure you've read before. Well today, the brush went full on porcupine ... grrrrrr.
A quick 10 laps on cloth and 20 laps on leather and it was go time. I went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with minimal drama to report. The shave was a bit lacking today for several reasons. As I mentioned, the brush was being problematic. I thought I had my lather dialed in and it looked nice and wet, with a good sheen. If that's the case, there wasn't much in the way of residual slickness. I also had a hard landing on the neck. Luckily it didn't bleed, but you can feel it and I may catch it on my next shave. So ... I wrapped it up with a DFS for the win! I was mostly BBS, but did miss a problem spot ... par for the course today.
Wrapped everything up with a post shave lather while I cleaned shaving equipment. Followed that up with a quick rinse and pat dry. A splash of the AS and everything was right as rain! I do dig the Florida Water. Not sure about the soap today, but I will give it another go. Ya know, in the name of ... science. Life is good!
