Open Comb DE Suggestion

Hello Cadre, I am thinking about trying out an Open Comb DE, and I was wondering if y'all had any suggestions. I would prefer a razor that is not highly aggressive. Thanks for y'alls help!
 
Only have tried a few OCs. The smoothest so far has been the NEW LC. (Haven’t tried an OLD yet). For modern, the RR GC OCs are pretty solid.

I've actually been looking at the GC .64 SB for a little while. I have heard some awesome things about it. I wonder how the OC fairs. What is the NEW LC?
 
The Merkur 15c is a very enjoyable OC. The Gillette OLD and NEW (both LC and SC) are great. My favorite, however, is the PAA Stainless DOC Ascension. That is a fabulous Open Comb razor. I highly recommend it.

I still need to try the OC Game Changer. I love my Closed Comb GC very much.

They are referring to the Gillette NEW Long Comb and NEW Short Comb....... and again, those are in my pass around box.

I think there may be a clear winner. The only thing that worries me is that I have noticed that almost every New or Old type has cracks in the handle.

It is a pretty common thing to see from people over tightening but you can find them without cracks. I Love my New SC and i doesn't have any cracks.

Agreed. I think it’s more a common issue on OLD types I think, less common in NEWs. Mine is also without issue.
 
I would say get into KJs pass around box because you can’t get a better sample of OCs than that. Old Type, Long Comb, Short Comb. You also have all the different variants of the Goodwill razors to try out later...honestly, a Gillette Long Comb is a thing of beauty but I have a few of each. Up from there you have the Timeless OCs etc and many others!
 
I was going to mention the Goodwill and the Senator also. But the OC Techs are nice. The pass around box is a great suggestion.
