Hang on.....how do you freeze the Mentos without putting it into water???
Plus, it's the interaction is dissolved gases that create the reaction, not liquid alone. So one would have to find out if the imperfect surface of the mento remains after being submerged in water long enough to create the ice cube. Again, meme logic.

Put the mentos in the freezer and freeze them and then put an ice tray in the freezer with water in it and keep a watch on the ice tray and when the water in the ice tray starts to freeze but before it is solid you put a mentos in the then slushy ice tray and then let the cubes finish freezing... Then you have the mentos frozen in the cubes......
