Shave Newbie
Hello All!

I am like a old "new" person to DE shaving as I started out in '96 after abysmal times I had with both cartridge and electric razors. DE shaving wise, I had used the same razor, soap and blade set up that worked for my hair growth type until last year when the soap company went out of business and the blade company went with a different manufacturing plant and the new blades were not suitable for me. Since then, I have tried 18 different soaps and around 10 different blades, learning what does and doesn't work for me. I look forward to learning more about what's out there in the shaving world!

Thank You!

Blade wise, I would say Treet Platinum, Nacet, and Dovo have been really good. Soaps I would say that for vegan wise, Eleven brand Sweet Orange was surprisingly good. Hard soap, Razorock "What the puck" is another I was surprised about. "Croap" or soft soap, HC&C Pai Mei was one I bought and have been really happy with. To go from years of Williams to trying as much as I have, is just odd to me 😂

Welcome to The Cadre, and your new home in the Wet Shaving community! Good to have you here. Lots of amazing people here so anything you want to know, or need to ask, we're here for you!

Lots to see, read, and get involved with here. We're much more than just a wet shaving forum. I'm here for the camaraderie more than anything else. We have so much fun. In addition to the traditional SOTD type posts, we also have a lot of Shave VLOGers, we have a section of Shaving Journals, host bi-weekly Zoom Calls, play Forum Bingo bi-monthly, bi-monthly “fantasy” sumo contest, host an annual Holiday Gift and Card exchange, and so much more.

Aside from Shaving, we’re also into pipes, cigars, coffee, watches, guns, cars, astronomy, fitness, food, alcohol, pets, beekeeping, gardening, music, movies, and just about any other hobby out there. If you don’t see a thread already about a hobby you’re interested in…. start one!

All these activities make us more than just a Forum or Wet Shaving Community. We’re a Brotherhood, a Family, or simply put: The Cadre! Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
