I remember the very first time we did PT and the Sgt stood in front of us all formed up with a soccer ball in his hand and asked “who wants to play some soccer” and a bunch of hands shot up....”great we’ll go for a run”....(no not my hand...my Dad was a Sgt that was sorted early). We sucked wind through every hole we owned. Next morning there he was again with that damn ball...”hey, who wants to play soccer?” And no one moved an inch...”good, we’ll go for a run”...
My drill sergeant told me he thought I was too intelligent for the Infantry so he asked me if I wanted to join the Army PhD program. I spent the whole day operating a manual post hole digger in the Georgia summer sun building a concertina wire fence around an ammo depot.
That's good advice. I got an A+ myself. Just sayin'...
