May 2025 Sumo Contest - Natsu Basho

Yes it was great basho. Though I was rooting for Onosato, I was expecting a crash after winning the last basho, in the traditional sumo fashion. So I foolishly bet against him, and glad I lost.
Onosato really feels like he fits the Yokozuna, clearly dominating since he stepped in the ring. I think the organization got antsy when they promoted Hosh, nothing against him. The difference is when I see Onosato I expect him to win, and Hosh, it's a big maybe.
The thing I worry about is will it actually force him to retire sooner than he would have as an Ozeki, that would be a shame.

I believe Hoshoryu will mature and grow into his position. I agree he was prematurely advanced, but will be an adequate Yokozuna, but hardly a great one. Onosato has real promise
