My first review is Magellan by Martin de Candre.

Ease of lathering is legendary. That said, I've yet to meet a soap that I struggled to lather. (Notable exception: Hotel in Las Vegas, I couldn't generate lather with any soap)

Longevity of lather: – Excellent stability.

General skincare: – I find the overall shave experience to be excellent. I'm happy very happy with performance, and slickness. The soap rinses clean with no residue which I love.

Scent– A complex scent profile that's described as warm and spicy. Clove and Cinnamon are two notes that I can easily detect. For those that prefer soaps for specific seasons, this one is ideal for the colder months.

Price: The most expensive soap I've ever purchased. In my experience I've finished two 200g jars and each lasted well over a year of daily shaves so I find that while the upfront cost is high, the overall cost becomes more economical. By comparison I've finished other soaps in as little as 30 shaves.

Would I buy again: Yes definitely. I find this to be a top quality product in all apects.

I've heard someone describe Magellan as being in the Bay Rum family. However, it is my understanding that all MdC scents are light or subtle. It does sound like a wonderful soap and scent.

I don't have any experience with Bay Rum but I can confirm that the four MdC soaps I've used: Rose, Original, Absinthe, and Magellan all have very nice subtle scents. They're not overpowering in any way.
