Okay guys, and , gals , as the title says my wife and I are searching for her a new car. She is giving our oldest son her Jeep Liberty because he likes it and wants it and is graduating a couple of years Early this year ( We are so proud of him BTW )... Well back on subject, we are looking at SUV's / cars with 3rd row seating... We have found a few vehicles we like , one is a 2012 mazda cx9 another is a 2012 Buick Enclave and the third is a 2016 Chevrolet traverse... Anyone have any thoughts on these? TYIA if anyone replies...

Here are pics of three we are looking at there is a 4th traverse (same year but white )

We had a Buick just like that for a long time and our oldest is now driving one. Always had good power, comfortable, and tons of space for hauling.

Thanks, my wife is really having a hard time picking because she really likes the buick but she also likes the mazda and the others too... The cool thing about the buick and the chevy is they are at the same place we bought the jeep from so we kind of know / trust the people, and they have offered to do a little work on the jeep we need done for very cheap too !! So we can actually get the little bit wrong with the jeep fixed AND get her a newer car too... Thank you for the info about the buick's I appreciate it a lot...

I've got a 21 kia sorento. Has the 3rd tow seat, a lot more room than the equinox we traded, and kia has the best warranty on the market. Their carryover on a used car is more than gm offers brand new.
Also, the 31mpg I average with an all wheel drive suv is pretty awesome.

Mazda is among the most reliable along with Toyota, Kia, and Honda.
Biggest problem i would have recommending a gm is their stupid secondary air injection system. Had issues twice with that. First time was under warranty and 5 times at the dealers trying to get it cleaned out enough for the engine light to stay off. Second time was on me because it was $1000 a pop for them to try and clean it with no promises. I managed to squeak it through inspection and then got rid of it.
Worst problem is it's an inactive system 98% of the time.

I mentioned the secondary air because our equinox was a 15. Just about the same thing you are looking at with the buick and the traverse. That system injects extra air into your catalytic converter on a cold start to help bring it up to temperature quicker. The problem is that it basically uses exhaust air which plugs up the ports and channels coming off the head.
If it falls below a certain pressure on a cold start it will throw a check engine code.
As far as driving the vehicle, put a piece of tape over the light. Won't hurt it. However, since many inspections won't let you have a light or more than one pending code it can be miserable to even get it inspected.

They aren't bad vehicles at all, but that is a potential issue right around those years that can be nasty. So just a heads up.

I favor the Buick. I have owned them and have a buddy who used to own a Buick dealership, I was pretty happy with my experience. I will say I think the Buick tends to feel smaller for the back passenger than others like it but that might just be me. Maybe you won't feel like it is so small.
