Lathering Up On Non-Shaving Days

Confession is good for the soul, or so I've been told. While I am not a daily shaver, as my beard growth only requires every other or every second day, I have become a daily latherer. I enjoy the smell of my soaps and the feeling of my skin after applying them, as well as the art of building lather in a shave bowl or on my face. I can feel my blood pressure go down as I start running warm water to bloom my soap and soak my brush. I lather 3 times, just like when I shave.

Do you lather up on days you don't shave just for the pleasure?

To answer the question posed:

I am currently lathering on a puck of C&E that was given to me as a challenge. Its one of the more difficult soaps I've ever come across (that's not saying much.......I'm new to this multiple soap thing you all do). So I do lather that soap on the weekends....which is when I'm often skipping a shave or two. But yeah.....I'll lather it up to see what kind of lather it will produce under my current testing condition and then not shave with it. Its a tough nut but I'm determined to figure it out.

I can understand what you're saying. You like the scents and you have to wash your face even on days that you don't shave , so you're just washing your face and exfoliating with shave soaps.. Anyway if its something you like , and, its not illegal , then what's the harm.. Do what makes you happy..

Yes, exactly! You phrased it much better and more succinctly than I managed.

There is a cadre member who does what he calls "mammoth painting" because he enjoys the smells of his soap so much. In this version the soap is worked into one's chest hair and allowed to soak in to release fragrance through the day.
Now that's an interesting proposition! Unfortunately, the most body hair I have is on my face, so trying that option isn't in my future.

Newbie!

I confess I in the "lather up even if I am not shaving club" too. I used to be more formal about it now I just use a brush I keep in the shower and a random non-prefered soap I relegated to the shower. I figure if lathering stimulated sebum production and that is good for the beard why not lather more. Side benefit is I get more practice lathering different soaps.

I like that idea, Chris!

As good as an idea as that sounds I have never done that nor do I see myself doing that. I think it might tickle too much.

As an aside though, I WAS going to post a thread asking about the wisdom of shaving ones gorrilla chest/back. I find as I age I begin to look more and more like a grey back gorilla.
