I'm back...

I'm back after a lengthy absence. My last post was in 2018. Life got busy and I let it get the best of me. My wife and I started doing foster care. Almost all of my hobbies took a back seat to spend more time with kids. I also took a promotion at work just before I went silent. Fast forward, we were able to adopt two boys a couple years ago. Now their sister lives with us also. The youngest is 17 and a senior in HS. My wife and I are starting to have more time together and to restart old hobbies.

I don't remember when i last shaved with a straight. Towards the end I only used a shavette. Eventually I will pull out my straights and see what hones I have. I can't remember what I did last week, but maybe I'll remember how to hone a blade.

I still shave with a DE and soap. I've been through RAD, SAD and several other ADs, so I haven't changed much. For the last couple of years I pretty much only use a Gillette Fat Handle with Personna Med preps. Couldn't sleep so I was looking on here and the other forum because I'm thinking about getting back into making shaving soap. Hopefully I can get back into some of the things I used to enjoy.

Lately I've been using MWF. Before that Razorock (can't remember scent) and Williams. Just found out that Williams is RIP which makes me sad. It's actually decent soap once you figure out how to lather it.
Aside form the shaving forums, what other hobbies are you guys getting back into?
I'm hoping to get back into soap making. Wife just had a hip replacement, so we're hoping to start hiking a bit. We've been outdoor oriented, but haven't really hiked before. I also want to get back into woodturning.

One of my boys decided he wanted to play rugby. It played a tiny bit in Jr High, so I started going to practice with him. After a couple of practices they were short on coaches and asked me to help. I ended up coaching HS rugby for 3 years. Had the opportunity to coach alongside coaches that played both Union and Cup level rugby. Two of our coaches played rugby at BYU. It was an amazing experience. It's been two years and I hope I get a chance to coach rugby again. I don't know that I'm any good at teaching rugby, but I think I was a decent mentor.

Sorry to tell you, but MWF is also RIP... Its been a tough few years for wet shavers. Luckily there is still plenty of product out there!
