Ibsen Slant (sort of)

Many of you may already know my strong interest in slant razors. One that I never got my hands on was an Ibsen, that also was sold under the Liese brand. Yeah, okay, not a household name on this side of the Atlantic, but trust me, it is a well respected vintage brand. Recent I acquired a heavily used Ibsen that was in slightly worse condition than the pic below (which I found on the internet):

Plating was slightly worse than the above and there was a medium sized crack running down the handle. I did my usual Dawn soak and a couple of cycles through the ultrasonic cleaner. Well, the plating started coming off the zamak base and the medium crack in the handle turned into a large crack with a second one next to it:

So I knew that I needed to seal the base with something, and I decided to use my left over touch up paint for my car since it goes on thin and is designed to seal metal. so what if it is metallic blue. I also bought a 10mm carbon fiber tube from China (remember my Tech project?) and finally found time to put it together.

I am currently trying to figure out a way to take all the plating off the cap and have it show brass, but that is something to figure out later.

I shaved with it tonight and found that it was one of the smoothest shaving slant I own and I got a two pass BBS with minimal touch up. Not only that, it matches the paint job on my car!
