English is fun!

A) I was positive that BB stood for Ball Bearing.... learn something new every day I guess.

B) Y is a vowel when it makes a vowel sound in a word. When it's at the beginning of a word like Yellow, there is a hard "yuh" sound. But in Rhythm, it has a soft vowel sound.

Cwm and crwth do not contain the letters a, e, i, o, u,or y, the usual vowels (that is, the usual symbols that stand for vowel sounds) in English. But in those words the letter w simply serves instead, standing for the same sound that oo stands for in the words boom and booth.
The Welsh W is literally a Double U, making the "uu" or "oo" sound. That's pretty cool.

Shh, psst, and hmm do not have vowels, either vowel symbols or vowel sounds.
Onomatopoeia!
