DE blades

So I have been wet shaving a few years now bought a large sample pack of blades back then and found a few I liked what do the rest of you think about these.
Rise
ASTRA SE
Trig Silver edge
I know blade selection is very personal choice every face is different.

My favorites are, PolSilver SI, Gillette Silver Blue, Personna Israeli Red,Rapira Platinum Lux and Voskhod. Have 100 Gillette Rubies coming on recommendation to try.

The Trig are okay. But the Astra SP are my favorite blade. I also highly recommend Gillette 7 o'clock yellows

I favor just about anything Russian, but Astra SP are my best all around blade.

I also like:
Gillette Silver Blue
Gillette Platinum
Rapira SS
Voskhod
Ladas

For non-Russian blades I like:
Israeli Personna
Parker Premium Platinum
Treet Black Carbon
Treet Platinum
Treet Classic Carbon
Treet Silver

There are a ton of really good blades out there.

For me: Astra SP work really well in all my razors, as do GSB. Personna Supers seem to be good as well.

Wow this is a worm can that could turn into a humongous YMMV but mine is better thread.

My favorite blades in order:

Gilette Rubie
Gilette Silver Blue
Astra SP
Treet Platinum
Feather
Personna Israeli Reds
Gilette Nacets
Personna Blues

There are also a ton more under those that are ok blades just not really my favorites. The only blades I can not use are Lord Stainless blades. Those for me suck eggs.

I never got too deep into trying a bunch of blades. I did the feather, they are fine but not stellar. I also did Vokshod and Rapira, not exceptional but not bad. Wilkinsons sword barber pack are pretty good and come in a larger pack for a reasonable amount of money. After all my experimenting I found the Gillette 7 o'clock yellow, Gillette silver Blue and Personna to be all I i ever needed. I got the Personna Lab Blue, yes they are sharp but not so different from the regular Personna, the biggest difference is that lab blue are sterilized for hospital use. Even though they are probably the most popular go-to blades, I never tried Astra.

I came to the conclusion that other than Shark (the worst experience EVER!) all blades are pretty much the same to my face. I lack the refinement to be able to tell the difference.

Had i stuck with DE as my primary method of shaving i fear i would have collected thousands of blades in search of the best one and never be able to recognize when/if i found it.

Add Derby to that list and that's pretty much my thought as well. I've always felt that Blades were the least important variable in the shave.

Has anyone tried the Personna Med Prep blades? Looking to purchase some to try. Are they any better than the regular Personna Blue blades?

They are good, but I would argue a bit rough at times. But they are plenty sharp and can deliver a nice shave.

My understanding is they are the same as the Reds but with an extra sterilization step. I've tried them and they do feel the same to me.

I cannot say the same because I was stricken with BAD early on years ago and have tried damn near every vintage NOS blade as well as most of today's "heavy hitters". I like the Gillette blades the best with the Rubie, the Platinum & Brazilian Platinum Plus at the top of the heap and various other Gillette blades just a tad behind. That said however, I would advise a rookie to just stick with an economical Gillette blade like the Astra SP or the Gillette Wilkinson Sword blade as made in China (not India) and concentrate on technique with one medium razor, e.g., Gillette Tech, and top tier soaps.

FWIW, the last few days I have been shaving one side of my face with an Astra SP and the other side with a NOS Brazilian Platinum Plus blade and the latter is subjectively a frog hair better if you forced me into an opinion. Even then the price difference is not worth it and the Astra SP wins overall as a better bang for the buck. YMMV.

I always recommend the Astra SP blade to new wet shavers. The price is right, and It’s hard to find someone who doesn’t like them.

This, I think, is the voice of wisdom. Of course there is that amazing run I had with Rapira Platinum Lux blades when I tried a few the last month...and Gillette Rubies are beckoning, Derby Premiums gave me some great shaves...

Rubies and Sliver Blues are my go to favorites for sure. Never tried the Polsilver ones. When I started a couple years ago it was Astra SP and Feather for me and I still have some of both along with enough blades to shave the US military force at least once.
