DE blade hunt

Appreciate all the suggestions.

Today i pulled out my mission with the Spolier Blade (2nd use) First pass was tuggy and awful, so I binned the blade. In my cabinet there was a Dorco 301 i loaded and had a nice 2nd pass from it. I watched Chad's BAD blade video with the parker and adjusted my angle on this shave.

Spoiler is a 1 and done in this razor (will save for the Slim or the QShave)
Dorco 301 has 1/2 shave on it.

I am not an every day shaver and wonder if the blade pits or rusts between shaves causing the blade to become a 1 and done........

Recieved a couple generous PIFs of blades to try so today I loaded up with one (Parker)

did a 2 pass shave and it shaved like a feather for me. Sharp and left my under chin area nicked and weepers everywhere. Used an ASB as it is winter and my face feels like I used a Derby on it.....

not it sure if this blade will get a second chance in the Mission.

So far the Dorco 301 has been the best blade in this razor.

Any other ecommendations of blades to try?

In part of the PIF with the Parker blades were Rapira blades. I had always dismissed these blades in the past as the packaging screamed in from the 80s and did not think they were good because they were cheap.

I loaded fed one into my Mission and did a 2 pass shave. Wow ?. They are an amazing blade. Best shave I have had in months. Will try this blade again to make sure it is not a fluke but if it’s not I see a few hundred coming my way after the first of the year.

Which Rapira blade did you try? There are a couple that are really good and a couple that...well just are not!

Used the same exact setup as yesterday and I looked like I used a chainsaw to shave with. Obviously I am doing something wrong technique wise.....

Funny how the best blade for someone is the worst blade for another. Derby and Dorco get bad reps from many but for some people they are miraculous. Go with what works for you.

The Rapira's from the picture did not work for me. I also have some Platinum Lux but haven't tried them yet. My usual blade of choice is Kai, and can also recommend Gillette Nacet's. Both are very sharp but smooth as well.

Maybe it’s been the razor not the blades

i pulled out my dollar tree razor and a Korean Dorco 301 blade. One of the best shaved in a long time. Thinking that I need to use less aggressive razor or smooth blades. Mowed down a 5 day beard with no issues.

Have you tried Timor blades? Made in Solingen, Germany, they are durable, sharp, and smooth.
Sorry for the long delay.

Don't think I have tried them. Since I started this thread 2 years ago I have deferred to the Shark SS, Rapira and Gillette green SS in my razor with a Dorco Pace 4 for touchups.

I need to break out my blades again to see where they stand now.
