A fantastic shave this morning with a Tribute to "The Town too Tough to Die" That's right, Tombstone, AZ.. Also the OG of the Tombstone collection Hombres Barbershop. A collaboration with Myself and @CBLindsay to create a fragrance and shave journey to the Famous Town, and all the characters that made Tombstone Famous. With notes of Russian Thisle (tumbleweed) Terra Cotta, Creosote ( Rain Bush ) Jalapeno Flower, wood, leather, gunsmoke, and more

Legendary lather, of course, and the razor today is from Tombstone, matches the years there, was used in the Barbershop in Tombstone, and Who Knows, it may have shaved some deperado, myself included LOL. It is actually Wyatt Earp days this weekend in Tombstone, so a tribute shave was in order

3 passes today and DSBBS. Finished off with CBL Litsea Cubebe WH, Barber Powder, and a VERY Liberal amount of Hombres Aftershave. FANTASTIC

Warm but gorgeous, a lazy day of Shop Laundry, some stuff outside in the yard, dog rough housing, and Homemade, @AvocadoQueen 's Famous, Tuna Casserole......

Memorial Day Shave

A nice shave today with "Clown Puke", Reuzel, Duke Cannon Seneca, WCS Heritage Brush, and the Jerry Stark Viking. 3 passes and DSBBS. Finished with some CBL Barber Powder and some Quinns to boot.


At the Ranch:
A somber, and a bit guilty day, as we give honor to those that made the ultimate price for our freedoms, and did not make it home, as we did. Heading down to the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, where my parents are also buried, as they were both Korea Vets, and to place some Poppies on their graves as well as others A small way to say THANK YOU.

Some other light errands, and date day lunch with Sharon

An English Unobtanium shave with the River Don, and an Aussie thrown in...

The Set-up of Set ups, for today's shave. Penhaligon's English Fern, and the Gillette Aristocrat British #15, as the un-obtanium, and the Castle Forbes as "The River Don" as it is to my knowledge the only Fragrance and Shave house that is located in a Castle, on the banks of the River Don in Aberdeenshire in Scotland.

3 passes with a brand new GEM blade in the Crat, and although I was a bit heavy handed, as per the Alum, it was still a DSBBS shave. Finished off with the Aussie ( Quinn's WH ), CF 1445 Balm, and the EF Talc. The Topper, of course, English Fern EDT. Glorious!

At the Ranch:
Errand day moved to today, with grocery shopping for the week. Weather is perfect, but a bit windy, as it is supposed to be cooler next week

Well, it is my Thursday your Friday as we finish up the week decided to do a very bright bergamot shave today

Well, summer is fast approaching as the cold water taps are now warm water

A nice three pack shave today PCN is such a fantastic soap and it’s sad that it is no longer made

Purple… Purple… Purple… That is the theme of the day for my last day in the shop before a nice three day weekend
Seaforth Roman spice was the soap aftershave and fragrance for today followed up with the CBL Barber Talc

A good shave all around hope everybody enjoys their Saturday

A very nice Sunday shave today with a Japanese Flair and a Bit of Italian. The Kaizen was the 1st soap from A&E and still one of my favs. Almost down to the crumbles, so a re-buy is in order. I am sure the base has changed since this is one of the Originals, 3 passes with the Daishi and DSBBS, as we finished with a Bespoke Oriental Frag from NYC that was gifted to me during one of our Christmas exchanges. Also a great way to start the 1st of may `100 degree days.

Aircraft Carry-on Compliance Shave Set...... and yes cartridge Razors Still Suck

In Looking at Carry-on compliance, not to mention we will be flying a regional jet, it was decided, rather than taking apart a DE, and hopeing some TSA agent ( as the rules are dependent on the airport ) does not decide he needs a DE, not to mention have to go get some blades, once at destination, I decide to Cartridge it... Gillete was stupid expensive for Junk, and the Harry's was the cheapest at 8-9 Dollars so WTH. In also looking at other requirements this set will fit in a nice clear zip lock and fits the "Ml" requirements.

As to the shave, in finality it was a DSBBS shave, but obvious irritation was seen, probably due to be used to a specific angle. The Lubrication strip left, I am sure, a nuclear waste of chemicals on the face, that took a bit to rinse off after every pass. Thankfully the soap and aftershave saved the day. In short can I survive a week with this razor, sure. Will it be fun? NO. Will I still be beautiful... OF course.

Finished off with No talc, no alum, no WH ( BOOOOOOO ) but the Nivea Deep was nice. I think it funny that Harry's, Gillette, and a host of other cartridge makes boast the best shaves... Only of course if you have never shave the "Real" way. Here is how I rank razors as to best shaves

1. Straight Razor Hands down the best, case closed, mic drop, thank you very much
2, Essence by Tedalus. As close to a straight razor as you will get
3 Blackland Vector. Best SE Razor PERIOD, no matter what @NurseDave says... I think secretly he likes Mooses, hence his love of his Bullwinkle Razor
4. Blackland Blackbird
5. Any other DE / SE / Shavette
6 A Stick with a DE blade ducktaped to it
8. Cartridge Razors
9. Disposable razors

At the Ranch:
Yesterday was not as hot as expected and today we wont get to the Century Mark as well. So groceries, a cigar or two, some coffee or 5, and a nice Monday.

Honestly....if you're traveling there's a very good chance you'll be somewhere near a member of the Cadre......we can supply you with temporary gear. Or you can mail it on through and we'll deliver it to you. You're Shaving Royalty...like the Earl of Badger or the Duke of Tallow.

Funny Dave, I’m busy trying to decide what to pack for my upcoming trip to the land down under. I have my dad’s fusion but I’ve misplaced the carts that go with it. Then I have another fancy Gillette I got in the mail many years ago, but it’s only got one cart and my trip is 15 days so I feel like I should have a second one. Then I have a full kit from Jeremy’s…but it’s unopened and I got it many years ago when they did that “I hate Harry’s” video campaign and I feel like it’s collectible or something.
I will be keeping my kit very minimalist because the allowed size for checked bags isn’t much better than carry on so I don’t have a lot of space available. I’ll probably buy some gear when I am there just because it would be fun to go looking for something local.
 
Chris....you need to travel like Bougie. A pair of shorts, a pair of underwear, 3 shirts, and 48lbs of shave gear. That would put you 1lb under weight with room for souvenirs.

Be sure to account for the 6 ounces for the clothes, because the airlines will charge extra for 50.1 pounds! 🤣
