Ariana & Evans scents?

Hello all, I have been reading a lot of good reviews on the A&E and want to get at least one tub. I can't find samples to buy and it's hard to choose from the description on the website. I would like to have some thoughts from the people who have used it, I am only interested in the new donkey milk version. To give an idea of what I like some of my favorites.

Mike's lemongrass and eucalyptus orange cedarwood and BP
WK Fern Concerto Pompelmo
Stirling orange chill SDM executive man sandpiper satsuma lemon and lime
B&M Seville
Sudsy Soapery peppermint and lavender but not a fan of consistancy

As you can see I love citrus and some cologne type scents. I don't like real powdery or overly sweet scents. Any recommendations or steer clear of this would be greatly appreciated.

A&E doesn’t do samples themselves. Members here have made some. There may be some in the sample library......

I have A&E Choco Cubano coming. When I get it I'll be sending samples of that and Cold Day in Hell 2. But that likely want help you. I have St. Bart's also and like it a lot. It has a lime element to it but I wouldn't call it a citrus scent...more of a beach scent or beach drink scent. But I realize again that this doesn't help either. Josh had tried a lot of them so hopefully he will chime in soon.

Unfortunately I'm not good at breaking down the scents. NurseDave has it and could do a better job for you. Not trying to be difficult but that's why I held back at first. Swap samples with the library and find out for yourself though. I like the soap base and want more but I haven't settled on another scent. I have a couple coming from the library soon to try. I know, I'm useless...............

Wow it's like your mouth is moving but nothing is coming out haha!! Just kidding maybe Nurse Dave will chime in with some good descriptions.

Well the recommendation to try the samples library came out. Really scent is so subjective from person to person I hesitate to recommend others purchases

Yo yo yo. Of the ones I have I would say Warrior of Howling Fjord is the most citrus forward. A lot of them have a sweet cologne type base to them. Which is cool because I really like it. Spartacus, Revolution, Hedonisme, Grecian Horse and to a lesser extent The Novelist all have those notes. If you’re interested in the sample swap, I’ll make a sample of the Howling Fjord for you.

Thanks Nurse Dave. I can't find warrior of howling fjord anywhere. Are all the A&E soaps now the donkey milk version? I was looking on there website and seen pamplemousse and it says it is citrus forward and grapefruit is the lead scent note. That might be a winner but the revolution also sounds good to. I greatly appreciate your offer but I might just buy a tub directly from A&E. Thank you

Thanks Nurse Dave. I can't find warrior of howling fjord anywhere.
Looks like that one is in the club section for now. Notes are: Bergamot, mandarin, neroli, green tea, blackcurrant, sandalwood, musk.

I don’t pay attention to the bases. Josh could probably answer that.

Ok...so had a post written up for this and thought I posted, but apparently not. Here we go...

So if you're a citrus fan, there are a couple that you should be looking to right away

L'Orange Verte - based off of a Guerlain fragrance of a similar name, (Eau D'Orange Verte), it's orange citrus forward with plenty behind it to give complexity and depth. (not singular in nature like Clinique Happy's Mandarin note) Wonderful scent.

SoCal Hipster - Another citrus forward scent, but so much more going on. Sandalwood and oakmoss back up the tropical citrus top notes and give a summer beach vibe without smelling like either suntan lotion or a fruity drink concoction. Probably my favorite scent by A&E. More suited to summer months, but if you're a fan of the citrus type of scents, year round wear is perfectly acceptable.

Pamplemouse - I haven't personally tried this, but the name alone implies a grapefruit forward scent. Knowing Peter Charkalis, (the proprietor and soap maker), this is anything but a simple grapefruit. Again, not one I've tried.

St. Barts - This is based one Creed's Virgin Island Water, a tropical smelling soap with some citrus and coconut top notes backed up with some sandalwood, patchouli and some other earthy notes. I have not tried the soap itself, but as long as it is in the goat milk base, you're going to be getting a great performing soap. I own the EdT for this and love it.

Warrior of Howling Fjord - Available to club members only, unfortunately, this has (IIRC), pineapple up top and some spice and wood notes underneath. Another bright soap that might fit the bill for you.

Spartacus - This is Peter's version of Creed's Aventus, which is a pineapple topped fragrance with complexities underneath that are quite beautiful. If it wasn't so popular, it wouldn't have been copied as often as it has. (I think the only other scent that may have been copied more is Creed's Green Irish Tweed, the most famous clone/inspired scent being Davidoff Cool Water)

As far as the soap bases are concerned, as I stated, ensure that you are getting your soaps in at least the goat milk base, if not the newer base. (not sure how many have been released in that base as of yet; it's a very new base) The majority of the soaps available on his site should already be in the goat milk base, with some remnants of when he was outsourcing soap making to other makers (Catie's Bubbles, Oleo Soapworks, and a few others)

Hope this helps!

Thank you very much Josh that is some great info. Rite now I'm learning toward socal hipster or pamplemousse, I also think I would like l'orange verte but I already have 3 orange forward scents. I'm learning more towards pamplemousse because I already have WK Pompelmo and absolutely love it. Is the Spartacus close to fine Platinum and Stirling executive man as all are inspired by aventus? I love both of those.
