Hello TSC members, thanks for all the feedback so far on our 1st annual TSC CON set for Las Vegas in 2022. Now, we need to decide where to stay. As most of you know, as with any get together, or convention, there is usually a host hotel, where the majority of activities will take place. Of course, you can stay where you desire, but it is usually more fun to be in the thick of things, rather than having to drive to and from your hotel.

Sooo, please see the next poll in our continued fact finding. This will not be hotel specific, but more an area. We will have some examples to help you choose. Please, all folks planning to go please vote, Poll will stay open for two week..

Thanks in advance for voting

I’m not too concerned with location. I’ve been to Vegas so many times, it doesn’t really matter to me.

I do see the advantage of being either on the strip or downtown, so you are walking distance to a lot of sights. But the cost will be less if we are off strip.

And I personally would approve of any Hilton property, so I can use my points to stay for free… ;)

I voted the strip causin’ you want to be able to walk places. And that’s where the pretty places are.

Yeah, but if you want awesome people watching, Fremont street is where it’s at…. That’d be downtown. That’s always a must stop when I go.

Plus the Mob Museum and Speakeasy are downtown as well

So wait a second here. You are saying that there will be other things going an on? I thought this was a shaving trip? 🤪

We’ll go into downtown to check it all out and of course everywhere else. So as a location it’s the strip.

Anything beyond that is definitely a privacy of your own home thing and not Cadre business.
Maybe you and @CVargo can run off together and shave each other’s legs!
I can totally see a leg shaving race. Your own legs you pervs! Of course that would have to be after some liquid courage.

So, to add the local perspective (also known as the make-everything-easy-on-myself, selfish approach):

The strip hotels are $$$$.
Downtown hotels are $$$-$$.
Everything else is $$-$.

While the strip has lots to see and do (as @NurseDave pointed out) everything is set up to keep you from leaving an individual property. They want you to spend all your money at their place. So walking to the next casino over is usually a hike and a half. Of note: they have moving sidewalks to bring you in...but not to take you out.

Downtown still has lots to see and do. Its not as fancy (read, overpriced) as the strip but it still has plenty of vegas fun to be had. Plus downtown is closer to the arts district and the newly named Brewery Row. There's also the previously mentioned Mob Museum and its Speakeasy; En Fuego Cigars; a bunch of antique shops; the Burlesque Hall of Fame; and the craziest street performers you've ever seen on Fremont street.

I wonder if whatever venue we choose will have a group discount for our group. It's small compared to many, but it's still a decent amount. A discount could help sway us to a place, which would be good for them in the long run.

Most vegas hotels offer a discount rate on rooms for convention visitors. But that would have to be negotiated between the planners and the hotel. Often the number of people attending and staying in the hotel can make the discount bigger. That's one of the reasons that encouraging everyone to decide on a particular area of town is helpful. But it really helps the planners if everyone books rooms at the same hotel as the convention. More money being spent at the hotel, more discounts for the attendees.
