The blade war continue today and now that I got the feel for the Osprey again, it was actually one of the best shaves and the lab blue is proving it’s worth.

As to the rest of the shave, a wonderful Seaforth set and finished up, of course, with the CBL premium Barber powder

DSBBS and silky smooth

At the ranch:

An interesting evening at the ranch, as I was letting Kona in I noticed that his face was a little bit bleeding, and he was swelling up, yes, indeed he was struck in the nose by a rattlesnake, a diamondback to be precise. So thank God to @AvocadoQueen For taking the lead on this as I had to get ready for this morning, so I was in bed early

So some $3000 later, he’s at home recovering his swelling has gone down a little bit, but you can see the pictures below. Always fun living in the desert.

Can’t say enough for the emergency veterinarians. Funny thing is he’s always been very good in alerting with a rattlesnake so we think maybe he just surprised the rattlesnake and boom

Have a good day folks

Rough stuff. Those eyes say it all.
A little late now but I give my dogs a rattle snake vaccine twice a year. It's not ideal becuase it only aids in antibody production for Western Diamond Back and we have BOTH Western Diamond back and Mojave Green in our area. There is question/debate how effective the vaccine is to begin with and even in the best of cases it still requires some amount of additional medical intervention. But i figure since we are most likely to encounter snakes while out jeeping or camping having a little extra time to get to the vet is a bonus. I buy the vaccine by the box direct from the manufacture so for the price of a couple doses fromt he vet I can vaccinate the entire Lindsay pack 2-3 times.

Thanks, Chris yeah, we’ve talked about that but even our vet says it’s not really documented how effective that Vaccine is it’s just really surprising because he is usually he alerts us when there’s a rattlesnake and runs away so I’m thinking he was sniffing under the shed or something and got nailed

Yeah. The questionable effectiveness and potential for reaction to the vaccine (particularly in breeds like my bulldog) make the vaccine a big question mark. I’d love to think it’s providing a benefit but the only real answer is avoidance. Even training won’t do a lot for surprise interactions unless your dog is really intense and attentive. Looks like Kona found a pretty large snake rather than a very young one.
We’ve had several reported sightings from the guys who go off road. The snakes are definitely out and about. There are parts of my yard that could harbor a snake or two but for the most part we’ve limited hiding spots and made things pretty inhospitable. The side effect of course is a good population of very fat ground squirrels

Hopefully Kona uses this event as a great learning opportunity. Keep an eye on that nose, probably going to get some necrosis as the swelling goes down.
