Bingo Game #78 Cruise Ship Bingo

Cruise Ship Bingo Day 9:

Costa Maya Mexico

Well.....you just knew the entire trip wouldn't be perfect from start to finish.

Costa Maya is .......and I'm trying to be fair here.....a dump. Most of the excursions they offer are ecotourism (snorkeling, kayaking, rainforest exploring) so you would assume that the area is rather pristine......you would be wrong. We chose a glass bottom boat tour so that we could see the reef and maybe sea turtles. The 5 minute drive through town was ok......but the streets were covered with trash. And the dock area where we boarded the boat was janky. Not to mention that the seaweed bloom that we experienced in Cozumel was worse here in Costa Maya...and let me assure you.....dying seaweed does not smell even remotely pleasant. The glass bottom boat ride was actually very nice and we did get to see several sea turtles and even a few conch among the reef. Plenty of fish as well.

But the real issue with Costa Maya was back at the port area. A few years ago, Royal Caribbean spent a bunch of money to improve the port area by building a dedicated shopping area. Nothing fancy, just a big improvement over what was there before. Problem is......the aggressive sales people remain. As we were walking though the shopping area, most sales people say stuff like, "hey come on in...we have great prices" or "pretty jewelry for the lady" or even "come see our _______(fill in the blank)" But as we were walking past this one shop the guy barking out to the people passing by grabbed my mom's arm and tried to direct her into the shop. I was following behind her and I took hold of his arm and pulled it away from Her's and said "no....don't". He looked at me...blinked once or twice and said "come on in....big discount for you". We walked on.

The same day we visited Costa Maya was the day that the Mexican government announced that they would not be approving the plans for Royal Caribbean to build a stand-alone private beach club right next to the port area. I'm not disappointed with that decision.

The rest of the day was quite pleasant. Spent the evening listening to music in one of the bars and played a bit of Marvel trivia. The X-Men questions tripped me up so I didn't win. And after dinner we stopped at the sports bar to watch the Dodgers game.

Not a bad day on vacation....but not the best.

Here are today's Bingo numbers:

I19
I26

I hope everyone has a most agreeable monday.

I feel like Steven needed one of those court room sketch artists to really capture his vacation.

Hey....lets have a bonus number....but with a twist.

I'll let our resident banterer make a call for everyone.....since he's not playing but feels like throwing his two cents in.

Just for funsies.....he can pick a number between 1 and 22. His pick will determine the bonus number call from the call sheet.

So what say you @NurseDave ?

Care to draw the attention of the pitchfork wielding crowd?
