Thanks for the great rabbit hole. I really enjoyed it 😄.
lol, thank you brother. that's very kind of you. I should have mentioned that most American men found fragrance (as opposed to an aftershave like bay rum) to be too effeminate up until the late 1940s...In fact, when Shulton introduced Old Spice in 1937, it was initially marketed to women. If John Tyler, Ulysses Grant, or Andrew Jackson (especially) wore cologne, they probably would be too embarrassed to admit it.

In a previous order I received a bath soap sample of Glacial Citron. I think it smells terrific. I was hoping they would release it this Spring/Summer. I didn’t see it in the Glacial soap announcement email I received the other day. 😮‍💨 Disappointed.

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Another fantastic shave this morning! Returned to CBL Premium Shave Soap and the second of the Dave & Chris collabs, "Spaghetti Western" shave soap and tonic. Wonderful scent! Kind of a "desert southwest meets AdP Colonia". Wonderful scent now that the temps have gotten warmer. Phenomenal lather built with the WWBW badger brush for three passes with the Henson AL13 and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, the matching aftershave tonic & CBL Barber Powder.

BBS bliss!!

Continuing on with the Henson. Today I popped in a fresh Kai. Felt harsh against the face, but that's par for the course with their blades. Seems to take two or three sessions for it to finally smooth out. Again, a lot of buffing had me expecting lots of irritation and feedback from the alum. There was some but not bad.

Hope you have a great day. :)

,What a beautiful day. Warm and sunny. A happy Mother's Day to all the Moms out there. I chose a scent that I initially picked up as a Winter/Christmas fragrance. When I received the soap and splash, I found anything but a Winter frag. So while I was disappointed in not getting a Christmas scent to add to my Christmas collection of soaps; the happy accident is that I received a banger of a summer scent. It screams the beach. A tropical wave of floral and citrus, with ocean breeze thrown in. Miami, here I come. Really good fragrance for summer. So while it's not the yule time scent I was hoping for, it is the summer fragrance I needed. Really good stuff. Unfortunately I only picked 1 set up before they were gone/delisted. And let me tell you; the longevity of the splash is phenomenal. It easily stays with me throughout the day into the evening. I'm not sure how much it projects, so I can't testify to that aspect, but the longevity is phenomenal.

Going out for the evening and needed a touch up. Pulled out this soap and splash, which is an homage to Aventus. I should say it's more akin to MODERN Creed Aventus, as it lacks that smokiness that vintage CA used to have. A pity. But pleasant enough with the citrus, especially in the warm weather we're having today. Finished with Yardley Gentleman's Talc. That Darn BarberDave is responsible for my Talc obsession. It started about a year and a half ago, or maybe two years ago (Can't remember when I started watching his shave videos). Decided to try the Talc finish to a shave. It's become an obsession. I have over a dozen different Talc in my Den now, and still looking to add more. My most recent was CBL talc. It's really nice. Also picked up a few Noble Otter powders on the secondary market. Not sure when he discontinued them, but the ones I've acquired are fantastic. Also got a vintage Proraso talc dispenser and filled it with some Proaso Talc I picked up at a local Barber supply. It's bad enough that I have a SAD (Soap acquisition disorder) as well as a BAD (Brush Acquisition disorder), but now I've got to add a TAD (Talc Acquisition disorder) to it????
hope you had a wonderful evening outing!

have you thought of perhaps making your own talc? it could be fun maybe...ive been thinking of trying some out
