Overall Rating: ★★★★★ (Epic Shave!)
Smoothness: ★★★★☆ (Very Smooth)
Irritation: ★☆☆☆☆ (Zero Burn)

2 days of growth easily taken down by the .68 plate on the Game Changer. I like this razor but have not found the perfect blade for comfort with it yet. It is very efficient but if your technique is off, you'll get a lot of irritation. The HC&C soaps lather up amazingly. I used a measured 1/8 tsp and whipped up enough Soap for 4 passes. The peppermint smells so refreshing.

Menthol Monday’s Frigid Report:

Hot shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Super Platinum day 4
Stirling Glacial Frozen Tuxedo SS
Gold Bond Moisturizer
Stirling Glacial Frozen Tuxedo AS Splash

After using a setup like this I think it’ll take just about all day for my face to thaw out because this is major menthol. The Glacial Frozen Tuxedo soap not only freezes the crap out of you, it smells gorgeous and it lathers fantastically not to mention how slick it is and it leaves such a comfortable postshave feeling. The Gold Bond moisturizer is not only very soothing, it has plenty of menthol in it also, and the Glacial Frozen Tuxedo aftershave is another menthol atom bomb with the same awesome scent as the soap - my wife told me how great I smelled. Three passes gave me a dynamite BBS shave that I enjoyed to the max!

Wishing you all a good week ahead - be well and stay safe!

Menthol Monday's Cold Water Shave

Cold Water Rinse
Derby Menthol Shave Cream
Jayaruh #277
Darwin-Stoll Jr. 3D
Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade
Cold Water Rinse
Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Mennen Skin Bracer AS

The Derby Menthol Shave Cream face-lathered well with Jayaruh #277 Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Darwin-Stoll Jr. 3D razor and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Mennen Skin Bracer After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

16 February, 2026

Hello everyone! Hope you had a pleasant evening.

Incredible shave today! Returned to ETHOS Grooming Essentials and their "Succès" shave soap, splash & EdP. Great Creed "Aventus" homage with a super thick and slick lather built with the Paladin badger brush for three passes with the Karve and I finished with alum, followed by Thayers unscented witch hazel, the matching skin food splash & EdP.

BBS bliss!!

Hope you have a great day. :)

Some challenges with my shave today. First, I’m trying out some soaps new to me and ordered some Cella after reading some favorable comments about it. Nice scent but the container is so small that it is nearly impossible to swirl your brush inside the tub. While a good soap I don’t think the extra work of figuring out how to work up the lather in a small area and the resulting mess are worth it. I’ll use it up but won’t buy more.

BUT, the bigger challenge was the collapse of the beautiful scales on one side of this lovely Leader. Pics below 😢

Hot water preparation
Savile Row 3824 Silvertip Badger
Cella Crema da Barba Shave Soap
FW Engels Leader 13/16
Cold water rinse
Thayers Rose Petal Witch Hazel

Happy shaving - Karl
