Chad's adventures of shaving, officiating, and life

All caught up, Chad. Nice reads and set ups. We'll be getting our flu shots soon as well. I've been getting them every year since 1988 (the army made you get it), and so far, so good.

Razor: Piccolo
Blade: Astra SP (5)
Soap/cream: Razorock Razorocktober
Brush: Razorock Disruptor
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Razorock Don Donato

Well today was another good shave. The Piccolo like I mentioned when treated well will provide a nice shave. And today was no different. The soap is an older Razorock soap and this one is right in Tier 2, the scent is just okay but seeing as it is unobtanium I will hang onto it. The aftershave while not a perfect match it in the same wheelhouse. So an all around great Razorock day.

Homefront:

First my apologies Cadre for not being present on the weekend as much as I wanted. I had full intentions yesterday of getting caught up, but I read the calendar wrong. After mass services my wife and my mom went out for lunch and some shopping. So while I stayed home and hoped the credit card wasn't used too much, the kids and I made cookies, and then turned the downstairs into a hotwheels race track! That was fun! Then both kids fell asleep. Well guess what the dog and I got comfy in the Laz boy and grabbed the laptop. Next thing I knew the garage door opened and in walked my mom and wife, and the whole house had been asleep for 2 hours! That was a much needed nap! Then last night we went out to dinner with my Saturday referee crew and the spouses. We enjoyed some burgers, beer, and talk about the game. Needless to say that's what happened. Also a busy week is in order this week. Work Monday thru Friday. Here is what's happening each day:

Monday: Last union meeting before playoffs start
Tuesday: Knights monthly meeting
Wednesday: JV game
Thursday: Double header JV and Sophomore game
Friday: 3A south Region Championship game. Winner wins the region and gets #1 seed in the 3A playoffs. This will be a good game
Saturday morning: 4 little league games.

So as you can see my wife and I are referring to this week as the WEEK FROM HELL! Friday Sadie also has her 18 month check up and the rest of the house will also get flu shots.

Anyways have a great day Cadre.

Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: Astra SP (1)
Soap/cream: Tabac
Brush: Wolf Whiskers
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Tabac

Well I squished the Tabac down back into the center of the ceramic tub, as the ring of death was much to big. But I am still having issues that I have not previously encountered with Tabac. The slickness is just not there. I wonder if there is just so little soap in the tub that I can't get a good lather, or perhaps I am not adding enough water. Regardless I am being left confused especially because I normally get excellent results from Tabac. I am actually questioning if it is worth replacing now.

Had the last union meeting of the season yesterday, where they announced another raise going into effect for next year on Varsity only game fees. This makes me very happy as Utah is one of the lowest paid states when it comes to sports. This will put us at the national average. So can't complain too much.

Hope you all have a great day.

I think you needed the nap to prep for the week!

That I did!

Great stuff, Chad. Wow, this week is looking insane for you!

Thanks Eric. Well I did receive a phone call this morning from the visiting team athletic director for game tomorrow. They have opted to forfeit the JV game, because they have injuries and they don't want to risk any JV players getting hurt when they are needed for their varsity game on Friday. So now my wednesday has opened up!

You have been a busy bee my bud! It is good to be busy though. Good luck juggling everything!

Thanks Tom. The juggling isn't the difficult part. It's the sleep part!

Very interesting, Chad. I say that because I noticed a couple of times recently, for me as well, that it didn't seem as slick as I always remembered it. I just thought it was my brush choice or not getting an optimal lather from being rushed, or something. Hmmmm. I'm going to have to revisit soon and see. Was it just a "one off" type thing? Or have we become so used to the high quality artisan soaps of late (CBL, DG, etc., etc., etc.) that maybe Tabac has fallen off in our eyes? Or has there been a reformulation (which I believe there was) that affected it more than thought?

Nice reads Chad and well deserved nap.

Thanks Dave. It sure felt like a great nap.

Good catch up reads Chad

Thanks Dave.

You know I think there are a couple of things. First this bit of Tabac is 3 years old. I have been using it every other shave since 10/1 and each lather has been sub-par to what I remember. I honestly think it just doesn't live up to the hype any more. BUT the Fine Soaps which claim to be the same formula are performing fine for me (pun intended) so honestly not sure what it is.

Razor: Muhle R41
Blade: Astra SP (2)
Soap/cream: Razorock Acqua
Brush: TSC Legacy Brush
Aftershave1: Humphrey's Witch Hazel
Aftershave2: Razorock Acqua
EdT: Zcent Razorock Acqua

Well today Razorock was on deck, and this is a very nice Aquatic scent that is described as marine smells, with some citrus. I really enjoy this scent, and using the aftershave and the EdT really complete the whole experience. All in a ll a great shave much better than yesterday.

Expect a plug review later today on two products that arrived in a recent mail call.

Homefront:

Yesterday had the monthly Knights meeting. And I am in charge of setting up our guest speaker that is coming in April. Finalized the paperwork there with the Grand Knight and will be booking everything over the next couple of days. April is a ways off but it will go by quickly. We also prepared the coats and boots that we are going to hand out to needy families in our parish, and surrounding areas. The coats for kids event is one of my favorites each year.

Anyways hope you all have a great day!

To quote Chris Noir, I'm just going to leave this right here:

Charlatans Traipse Soap
Notes of: Tumble Weeds, Basil Leaves, and Tonka Beans; followed by middle notes of Brushed Suede, Earthy Patchouli, Birch Tar, Cade and Amber; all sitting on manly base notes of Aged Saddle Leather, Red Cedar, Musk and Tobacco.

Mystery mail call?

I posted the mail call. Last week.
