Is that a pre or post-war Tech? I ask as I have a pre-war Canadian "fat handle" that I rarely use anymore and I just bought a "fat handle" post-war Canadian Tech that should be here next week. I like post-war Techs just a smidgen better for their blade rigidity which imparts a slightly smoother shave for me. My "daily driver" for the past four years is an English "ball end" post-war Tech that I love.

From what I've been able to discover, it's a Y4, which, if I'm reading thins right, makes it a 1953 post-war. Anyone reading this who can correct me, it would be greatly appreciated!

Depends on which war we are talking about. :unsure:

The WAR they are talking about is WWII and Techs made up until 1945(?) all had triangle lather slots on the base plate. this is still my favorite Tech.

Y dates are post Korean War, also the first year the Tech returned to having a metal handle. My birth year Tech is an X and the handles were bakelite because brass was needed for more important things like bullet casings.

Post a photo of the base plate with lettering if possible. ;)

I just bought one exactly like yours except that it is Z 4 (1954). It arrived today and it is in mint condition!!! 🕺 I don't think it's even been used or if it was damn few times!! Shaving with it tomorrow!! 😍

P.S. I'd post photos but my cheap cell phone makes every photo look like an early French daguerreotype. :whistle:
