Ramblings of a MilkCrate

Nice shave, Tim. How dark were you wanting to go? Chiseled Face Sherlock fits that bill pretty nicely.

Not really sure about how dark. Ya know what’s odd? I have Sherlock, but I only smell soap. Just like old school bar soap.

Shave Count (DE: 352 SE: 6 SR: 393)

Pre Shave-
Splash and go

Shave-
Solingen SR
Stirling boar
Stirling Agar soap

Post Shave-
Post shave lather
Witch Hazel
Stirling Agar AS

The Process-
Late morning shave and it was very nice. Changed out a couple of bits for this shave, but wanted to give the Agar another run. Changed over to the Stirling brush today. That Zenith is in the same camp as the Vulfix. A low end, hand tied knot that sheds like nobody’s business. Grrrrrrrrr. Maybe you have to buy the higher end brushes from those vendors for the hair to stay in it. Who knows? Anyway, the Stirling has stopped shedding and does a bang up job on the lather. A 30 second load time and it was shave time.

40 laps on leather and it was all business. This razor hasn’t seen much action, I’ve had it in my Dopp bag. It’s a NOS razor I picked up on the bay. No makers mark, just Solingen. It wasn’t shave ready, so I honed it up on lapping film and pasted balsa. Very nice, super sharp edge yet smooth. Went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. Awesome shave and I am BBS for the win! That’s the ticket right there. I am still working to get this type of an edge using my stones.

Wrapped everything up with a quick rinse and pat dry. Splash of the witch hazel then a splash of the AS. Everything was right as rain. I did still get that funk smell when I first applied the AS but it faded quickly. Thank goodness! After the dry down, the scent is nice and warm. And you know the post shave feel with Stirling is really good.Yup ... I’m digging it. Life is good!

Hey Tim.
I have a bunch of no frills razors that give just as good or better service than the purrty ones.
I HATE shedding brushes. If I wanted a bunch of stray hairs stuck to my face with soap. I could just use one of Mrs. Fluffy's cat brushes..
That gets me thinking. Maybe there is a use for those hairballs after all. Fluffy's Himalayan Cat Brush Co. Sounds exotic and exclusive right?

I know right?
The adds write themselves.

The scene opens up with a pig wallowing in it's own feces and mud. The narrator asks. "Who wants to rub a pig on their face?"
Then the scene switches to the beach. A young girl in a bikini with a Fluffy brush in her hand. Says "Spoil yourself. Once you feel our luxurious, soft p***y hair pampering your face. You will never want anything else rubbing you."
Then the usual ending with the usual disclaimers about how no animals were harmed in the testing and manufacture of the brushes.
And just to keep PITA off my back I'll say I donate a small amount of the profits to a fictitious animal shelter.

Semogue 610 boar
MWF soap

Avon Clint AS

The Process-
Late morning shave ... oh yeah. Wasn’t really sure which direction to go on my shave today, so I opted for a DE and The Fat. It whipped up a really nice lather, as usual. And although The Fat has a light scent, I really dig it. Plus my AS choices are wide open. This soap really has a lot going for it.

No leather this morning, it was all easy peasy. Went with my standard three passes of WTG, XTG and ATG with no drama to report. Outstanding! That was it right there. I had the razor set on 5 and it delivered a close, comfortable shave and I am BBS for the win! Nice ... very nice.

Wrapped everything up with a quick rinse and pat dry. Splash of the witch hazel then a glug of the AS. Everything was right as rain. I really dig this aftershave, there is just nothing modern about it. No initial funk out of the bottle. Just the same classic scent start to finish. Man I dig it. A simple, classic shave that will rival any other. Life is good!

Home Front-
Dinner and a movie with the missus last night. We found a new cajun place for dinner. Kinda limited menu, but had the basics and it was really good. Saw Bad Boys For Life at the movies and it was a decent flick. Last weekend we saw Fantasy Island, which has an interesting twist. We have a small cinema, not a chain, and it has dirt cheap prices. Makes for a nice, inexpensive date night

Fat soap + Fat razor = Fat shave!

Bad Boys For Life is on my list to see, but I’ll probably wait until it’s out of the theater.

We usually do the same. However, the most crowded any of our movies has been an audience of 10. Several times it’s just been me and the missus ... nice.

And, you can carry, just not open carry. Small town life has its advantages.

The 2 of us can’t get into a movie for less than $40. So we’re very picky about what we see in the theater lol.

I also live in NJ so unless you’re active or retired law enforcement, you’ll never get a permit to concealed carry here lol. I’m not a gun guy myself, but 3 of my closest friends are. They complain often haha.
