Shave Newbie
Anyone else seen this new shaving drama on YouTube. At least three content creators were dropped by an artisan, and one posted a rather scathing video decrying the whole thing. Here's
my problem; however, nothing verifiable was produced (to date at least) to corroborate the claims. I'm not saying the claims aren't true, but you'd think the parties involved would at least produce
some text messages, emails, or voice recordings to substantiate the claims. The one content creator went so far as to speculate the artisan was either a bipolar, an addict or an alcoholic. (I think that part was in incredibly poor taste. It may be true, I leave that possibility open, but to publicly speculate that without any proof, is an egregious act). The artisan then posted a rebuttal video claiming the content creator was, for lack of a better term, I'll describe it as a "shake down" for some sort of compensation for his reviews, either a payment or an affiliate program to receive a portion of sales. This is also a big accusation, and without posting any messages, emails, or audio to corroborate this, is pretty egregious to just float out there. At this point, I just see this conflict as a He said, she said squabble. (Well, it's more accurately a He said, HE, He, and He said, since it's the artisan and three content creators). It also amazes me how quickly people just to conclusions and pick sides without anything concrete, and just a person's own take on the matter. Barring a family member (and even then, I have a few family members whose word I find dubious because of past actions), I leave the possibility that the content creators could be 100% accurate in their depiction of the conflict, the artisan could be totally accurate in his view of the conflict, or more likely it falls somewhere in between. I just think it's a real bad look for all parties involved to present their side as fact, yet produce nothing to verify it.
My favorite Youtube shaver had a falling out with Sapponificio Varensino; was quite open about that falling out, but never made accusations. (I'm fairly confident he would produce some evidence of any accusations if he had) He simply states they had a difference of opinion on give away samples, and they parted ways. No allusions or shadowy/vague remarks, just opens ip, states what he saw as a conflict of interests between himself and the Soap supplier, and leaves it at that. It's still his favorite soap brand too. No "I'm never touching that stuff again" or other such silliness. Shame to see it happen, because I was enjoying the content of all 3 creators.
