Yaqi DOC

Nice razor. I had one with the I think Merkur OC base plate as it was supposed to be a nice combo for efficiency and smoothness. It was so so for me but not efficient enough without alteration. Hope it is a winner for you.

The head looks off. Is that a slant as well?

It is just a bad angle. The stencil on the bottom of the plate says Yaqi DOC. The slant has end plates on the cap and is far more contorted than the DOC. It also has a scalloped base and not an OC. @candy2014, the Parker is a far better slant.

Yes, that officially sanctioned Frankenrazor was called the Beast Hybrid. Slightly more efficient than the DOC, but still not the best cheap razor out there.

early today first shave with a red proraso and a personna med prep. definitely a different feeling compared to parker 55SS . I find the latter to remove more whiskers at every pass but at the same time i found the DOC more forgiving, i didn't even managed to nick myself at first shave.A few more passes but a good BBS in the end. So, for eficiency, parker wins. For comfort, DOC wins.

Keep us informed of how you like each! Those prices on the Yaqi items are definitely winners!

Another shave with the YAQI this time with Astra SP. I confirm my first impression , a tad less efficient than my Parker 55SS but more comfortable. The final shave is almost identical

But but but you haven’t tried a RazoRock Gamechanger yet!!!!!
being in italy i cannot really order anything from razorock. The shipping cost almost outweigh the razor cost. On amazon.it i cannot find any razorock item. that's why i gave up trying to get the razorock german 37 slant and settled on the parker 55SS last month.

hanks everyone for the feedback. I must say i've always been skeptical in using a DE vs cart razors. Until recently. Now that i'm mastering it and FINALLY have solved the ingrown hair issue after 30 years i am wondering why it took me so long "to understand".

@candy2014, I just shaved with my Parker 55SL last night and after that shave (I previously had about 5 shaves with the Parker), I officially put my RR 37 into storage for possible PIF. The Parker is way smoother and more efficient. Up unitl that time, the RR 37 held a place in my rotation for being the best Merkur 37 clone. Now that place is held by the Parker. My Japanese Suji wood handle has officially been passed on to the new king of the Merkur 37 clones.

Long way of saying to gorget the RR 37 and enjoy the Parker.

today shave with the YAQI short heavy handle and the R89 head and a yellow feather: spectacular, the mild R89 head with the supersharp feather gave me a very good BBS with no nicks and cuts. I must admit, much better than the original YAQI head

original yaqi head broke down after a short fall :( handle is perfect though. I will use it with the r89 head from now on.

t's the problems you have *sometimes* with chinese quality control: it was a less than 30 cm fall so it was definitely NOT supposed to break down the head screw. Not a real problem it was a gift from aliexpress (they refunded me for shipping late without returning it) and so i will use the excellent handle with the R89 head (see pic). Of course not for body grooming anymore (will use disposable bics for that).PSX_20190804_112113.jpg
