Wicked Slant -look at that blade exposure.

Late last year I picked up a really cool looking slant razor head from our friends in China. I decided to take it for a spin today, loaded it with a fresh Personna med prep and screwed on my big boy handle. The personna med prep has a reputation for being a sharp blade but I’ve never known it to be mean, nasty or unusually aggressive so I’m reluctant to blame the blade for the pain I felt today.

I had a lather made of Mystic Water Soap’s Sweet Briar Tobacco, thick and loveexpected the razor to glide effortlessly over my face, the blade slicing through my beard as if I were a samurai with a katana blade. Instead it felt like I was embarking on one of KJ’s (@Spider) daredevil challenges...Nay! I WAS embarking on a daredevil challenge, one wrong move and it was curtains for me. Somehow I survived 3 passes, although I very nearly stopped after 2. After all, my beard and the outer 3 layers of skin had already been removed. I wasn’t perfectly BBS on my neck but by the gods I was wasn’t about to try to do better.

well at least it looks cool6D260C03-B904-4671-8AC3-341B3229B8DA.jpeg CC62D431-3DFB-4DED-B87F-C4732CF87848.jpeg

I shaved with one of these heads a few weeks ago and I think the safety bar is just there for looks. I think I had less blade feel with my Kamisori. :ROFLMAO:

OY Vey! That razor looks like it means business! I hope your hull plating wasn’t badly damaged, nor loss of precious bodily fluids.

Ah, the famous Yaqi Ares! Yaqi certainly selected the right Greek God to name that razor head after. Even though slants are my preferred razors (I have 30+ and two more coming), this one got sent out on a PIF because it was just terrible. In fact, I think it went to @DeepSea.

It is just a poorly designed razor where folks said to Yaqi that they wanted aggressive razors and so when Yaqi was about to trash this design and start over, they decided to release it instead to get folks to stop complaining about making mild razors.Good thing you have access to great soaps that can lay down some protection on your face.

It did indeed, and while I had a successful shave with it, I don’t plan on tempting fate and going for a second. :ROFLMAO:

Day two went much better (proof that the sensory nerves are only 1/16th on an inch deep?). I ran the razor down my leg on the towel in a stopping motion a couple times and that seemed to help somehow. I may have found a better angle too. It sill stuttered and hopped on my jawline (you could see the lines in the soap) but I survived.
I am not seeing much of a slant in the blade or even a bend, it just sticks out and says “now go shave you fool”. ...and I did.
