Hey folks,

I'm primarily a straight razor shaver, though I enjoy breaking out a DE or SE once a week or so, and I'm looking to pick up a higher end razor in both DE and SE. My SE's are limited to GEM and Injectah so far, and my DE go-to has been my Rockwell 6c(with either #3 or #4 plate) for quite a while. I'm not really interested in pulling the trigger on one of everything(I save that for straight razors), and I figured I'd come to the experts for opinions. I'm fully aware that YMMV applies to all facets of shaving, but would still love to know...what is your favorite DE and SE, and why?

Oh good lord, you've opened the Pandora's box of SE trouble. Dave-1 is going to Occam this , then Dave-2 is going to say Occam that...both are going to sing the praises of the Vector then a half the forum will agree (I concur) before we learn there is a mighty fine NEW alternative under development or recently released. 18 pages later the discussion will end in a perfectly gentlemanly way ...one member will challenge another to a duel ...pistols at dawn? or broadswords? Then another 6 pages of discussion defending the merits of broadswords over pistols which will somehow find its way back to straight razors and how the duel should be a shave-off between straight razors, SE's and DE's. By Easter we will all be engaged in a shave-off using our own favorite implements and YOU sir will STILL not know which SE or DE you should get.

Just get the Vector and resign yourself to a never ending search for a better DE.

I'm also a fan of milder DE razors. I've used a ton, trying to find the right one for me. In the end, I've been very happy with the Henson Ti-22 in Medium. I also have the same exact razor in Aluminum (AL-11). It's been so good to me, I currently have nothing else in my cabinet. Of course, YMMV. 🤷‍♂️

I have a Haircut & Shave No75 coming in the mail. I’ll try it after I’m done with my one blade challenge. I tend to prefer mild razors so I’m hoping the neutral blade gap works for me. If the H&S doesn’t give me the shave I’m looking for I give up, I’ll take my Techs and Adjustables and go home. As far as SE razors go, I’m getting an amazing shave from the Above The Tie SE1. In spite of its many flaws, it’s among the best razors I’ve ever had.

If you like mild the ASD2, if you like a bit more aggressive and OC Blackland Tradere, or if you want agressive the the Blackland Blackbird TI for new ones, for old GEt a Crat, president, Faatboy ETC as to the SE Vector all the way, the Occam Oren is also a good razor, I could just not get over the "Bullwinkle" Look

SE - I vastly prefer Artist Club offerings over any other type (sans injectors) making my suggestion either a Blackland Vector or Colonial General. My Schick M and Parker can give great, mindless shaves but no where near as long of a BBS as the AC razors, yet I use the injectors more often on work days...take from that information what you will.

DE - Of all my DEs or ones I’ve tried (there have been some pretty nice ones), I always return to the Gillette Prewar Tech at some point for a long string of shaves. The RR Game Changer .68 solid bar is a pretty close second. The Henson medium is doing me pretty well right now too.

I just received this DE last week and have not been able to put it down - MagT Delta. Excellent two pass shaver and at 5 oz, you can shave and do your reps of bicep curls at the same time.

Don't let the looks fool you, it is extremely efficient and comfortable once you find a comfortable grip for it.

For SE, yes it is the Blackland Vector, but specifically the one with the open comb plate. Another efficient and comfortable shaver.
