A lot of the classics don’t get enough press in these times, the heyday of the artisan - Cell, Proraso, Williams (yes, even modern), TOBS, etc.

Sure there are some folks that regularly advertise that they use em, but they seem to be a niche group. I’ll be damned though if I’ve used a product yet (comparatively less experience with product variety than many of you granted) that hasn’t given me a good result when given time.

I'll agree, but after two tubs of Cella, one of 3P and a RazoRock P.160 the mere scent of almond/marzipan makes me want to barf. One that is overlooked and gives simply remarkable shaves is the Speick shave stick. I have a tad left of one I mashed into a bowl and to be frank I have had a few soaps give as good of a shave, but never one better. As well, the scent is like nothing else made. I actually get a good shave from modern Williams soap, but I have to bloom it in hot water for a spell before usage.

I’m a fan of Maggard’s house brand shave soaps. They are made by another producer carried my Maggard’s called Through the Fire.

They lather well, are slick, and provide adequate cushion. I love the scent profiles too, particularly London Barbershop. I don’t see them getting mentioned to often on the forums though.

Everything in my den is underappreciated....... I just have too much to get through.

I would say that other than this forum CBL soaps are under underappreciated but time and people trying them should change that

I had a sample of their Bergampt & Lime a few years back and it was very good. The scent however was killer!! ;)

The French Shea butter soaps are criminally underrated. Provence Sante and Institut Karite can blow you away. PS is my top puck soap. La Toja stick is simply the fines shave soap in production. It is never top of mind because it’s a stick. If they still sold the Manantiales puck, it would be near the top of everyone’s list.

I completely agree with you. I think the Maggard Brand gets overlooked a lot. I especially like their Platinum Version. It has some other butters in it and gives about as good a shave as any soap I have tried.

How’s that p160 coming?
Still going strong and loving every shave with it.

Good god man! That soap will never end! Poor guys in that PIF are probably wishing they never entered... 🤣

In all seriousness...I think one of the most underrated creams out there is the Palmolive Shaving Cream in the tube. You can pick it up for under five bucks most of the time and as far as creams go I think it is about as good as they come.

I would say Arko is really underrated also, but people can't stop talking about it...even if it is in a negative context. I love the stuff personally. I think it smells like the homemade soap my Great Grandmother used to make when I was a kid.

Well, I think I did tell people not to enter unless they were willing to put on their PJs and settle in for a long haul. I honestly didn't think it would still be going... but it is!

For artisans, I think Soap Commander is under appreciated. Just shaved with Confidence yesterday and I forgot how good it performs. In a time when “elite” soaps are adding donkey milk, duck fat, silk proteins, goat milk, illipe butter, hemp oil, etc... to stand out from the pack, Soap Commander uses a handful of basic ingredients, and hangs in there with the best of them.

I believe she also makes Smolder for The Blades Grim. Great scent and performance with that one.

You could call me a soap commander fan boy! Love the stuff.
