Tribute to Grandpop

Some of you know that my grandfather served in the Army during WWII and was a POW after being captured by the Germans. Well, my sister works at a nursing home in Atlanta and got to talking to one of the residents there who also knew someone that was a POW during the same time in a different camp. He told her that he had something he wanted her to have but had to find it in his room. The next day when she came to work he gave her a set of leggings with the letters PW painted on one side. These were worn by the men captured to denote they were prisoners. The nursing home was also recognizing veterans for 4th of July, and were issuing certificates, flags, and pins to those who served. He went down and had one made for our grandpop. Pretty cool.

Very cool! And for your sister to have been able to connect to someone who knew of the same POW camp? What a small world!

They were actually in different camps, but they were prisoners during the same time period. But yeah, what are the odds that she meets someone randomly like that?!
