As you’ve probably seen the banner, we are celebrating five years of The Shaving Cadre Forum!

TODAY IS THE DAY!!

This idea hatched many many years ago. Chad, Chris, and myself, with the encouragement of our spouses and folks that became our legacy members, made it a reality

We would like to thank all of the members for your support over the last five years, your suggestions and so forth. Chad, Chris and I are so blessed to have members like you in the Forum. We feel that we brought a new experience to the Shaving Forum World.

We still are the only self moderated Forum in this realm. We were told it would never work and you guys are testament that it can.

Special thank you to our concierge staff, both existing and former, all the legacy members that were here with us from the beginning, and again to you, the members of the TSC

You are the lifeblood of the forum. Here’s to another five years and more.

Happy Anniversary!!!!!

When I reflect back on the rather hectic (from my perspective) beginnings and all that has transpired on and off the forum since those early days, I am truly amazed. I must first extend a hearty thanks to the legacy members (those who have the gold "legacy" badge) as they were the ones that jumped on the bus with us at the VERY beginning and helped us get and keep this thing going. There are a number of early adopters and supporters who didn't qualify for the legacy badge (yes, we set HARD parameters for it and stuck to them) who deserve as just as much thanks. The journey hasn't been without it's challenges but overall I would say the TSC has been an amazing success all around.

Those of you who were with us in our first year will remember the forum before the current Xenforo platform...WTH were we thinking starting a forum with those guys? Fortunately the conversion to Xenforo went well and we all survived the short downtime needed to convert and move all the data. Since then we have seen the forum grow at such a pace we have had to expand our server capabilities multiple times just to handle the bandwidth. One of the most amazing things about our growth in members and technology is that we have been able to do it all with the support of a few FANTASTIC and loyal vendors and hobbyist ...and a few very philanthropic members (And owners). This has kept our forum free from ads so our members can better enjoy the content. I suspect there will be a day when we explore ways to monetize the forum so it is better able to support itself and the growing technology needs, but that is a topic for another day.

For each of prior anniversaries (after the conversion to Xenforo) we have managed to put together some sort of TSC SWAG BAG for our members and last year we had our first annual in person meet up. We had some pretty great plans/ideas for a meet up this year but life hit the three owners pretty hard with some pretty heavy stuff so we had to change our plans a bit. Other than the work we put into the conversion to xenforo I would say putting together those anniversary swag bags /items has been the most challenging thing we have done. Speaking of challenging...we are planning on doing a commemorative 5th anniversary challenge coin this year (if we can get enough interest AND paid orders to make it work). Check out THIS thread to learn more.

Well, I suppose I have said enough for now. I really hope everyone is enjoying the forum.

Wow!!!! Happy Shaviversary Cadre! I for one am most humbled by your efforts in the beginnings of our humble community and am grateful that it has grown into the place it has!
